Exclamation Cost for first Service ( A )?

I was just quoted $120 (pleasanton acura) for the first service ( A ) which included:
- oil and filter change
- tire rotation
- top off any fluids
- look for any leaks,etc,..
- road test (which I doubt will really happen)

I have about 4300 miles on the car and the service light has come up ( i.e <10% remaining)

What are other people paying? This seems pretty high...

that does sound high. it seems you only need an oil change and around where i live it's about $24-30 at the Honda dealer. Acura should be the same

That's a freaking highway robbery! You should not pay more than $40 for this service!

$30-40 is fair. Some dealers, like Pohanka here in VA will give 1st oil change for free.

That looks like a California price. This was discussed in length about a month ago in this forum and it seems like the larger metropolitan areas were charging a lot.

The oil change should run as W1N78 said, and part of an oil change, especially at an Acura dealer, and for a new car, should include topping off fluids, checking for obvious things like oil leaks, front wheel drive boots, etc. Tire rotation might be another $20-25, so you are getting ripped off for the rest.

If you can do any of this yourself, that is the best bet, but some people just can't do it at home. Ask them how much just an oil change is, and the difference will be for the tire rotation, so you can decide if they should do it or if you want to do it somewhere else.

Makje sure they change the filter also. The owner's manual says every other time for filter change, but that is dumb.

pps, I was quoted $75 from Pleasanton Acura for A1. This is what I did, went to Costco and got my tires rotated for free. (They will ask you $16 for balancing since the tires are not bought from them but I had all my previous cars listed with them and got it for free.) Go to dealer and get oil changed for $35.00

BS, you shouldn't be paying more than $30. All you need is an OIL CHANGE, not even a filter replacment!

It's your car, but I wouldn't dream of not changing the filter with each oil change. I did it on my 96TL and the filter was $13.30 list at the dealer, and this one is only $7.50, and that's a cheap price to pay for keeping your engine clean. Even more important when you consider the longer intervals between oil changes in this TL.

I just had my A1 service at Los Gatos Acura. Oil and filter change and tires rotated, $70 total. That $120 seems high, and it's cheaper if you rotate the tires yourself or try the costco route as someone mentioned.

My GF's RSX had a oil change, oil filter replacement, tire rotation and a bunch inspection on springs and etc.

Mcdaniel Acura at Columbia SC charges her US$153 just for the labor. And after add the parts cost. Her service charge was US$ 193. I had an oil change that day as well and the dealer charges me for US$39.43 for it. It makes me wonder if I really want my 04TL maintenance done at the dealership. However, I must said that dealer does give ya some benefits. As I removed my front liscense plat, so there were two holes at the front bumper, the dealer saw it when they changing the oil for me. They go ahead take the parts and plugged the holes for me for free.

Everytime you rotate you should balance the wheel and you cannot do that without the proper setup. Even the manual says that everytime you take the wheel off, balance it before you put it back on.

That's not necessary, unless you've noticed some odd steering of late. The balance of the wheel won't change unless some of adhesive weight fell off.

Wheel balance is tied to the actual wheel that the tire is on, not where it's placed. That's why when you put new tires on your car wheels, chances are the rim that was on front-left is now somewhere else on the car after the wheels are put back on.

I'm in the San Diego area and I had my TSX in for the 10,000 mile oil change and tire rotation last week (this was my second oil change).

Cost was $56 which seems reasonable (around $35 for the oil/lube, $15 for the tire rotation, and some misc fees like waste disposal).

Maybe you TL guys are getting something more since you're in the high end of the product line  :thefinger
