Correct type of Redline to use?

Last fall I did a 1x3 tranny fluid change on my car and am looking to do it again when this semester ends to get all the z1 fluid out of there. I used 3 qts of Honda DW-1 and have been reading positive things about Redline atf. I've searched but i am not completely sure which type to use. Could someone clarify? Also, is it okay to mix the two fluids? The car just hit 60k miles if that matters in any way.

D4. I got mine from a seller on eBay that sells 12 quarts for about $130 shipped.

Red Line D4 is replacement for the Z-1, but they have D6 that's replacement for DW-1.

I'm mixing a gallon of : D6, ltwt F, and F each in a bucket. Got them $50/gallon shipped. Should give viscosity between D4 and D6 and still protect better than Z1 or DW1. and 66.7% racing mixture. For daily driver and occasional road trip loaded over GVWR

Anyway for less crazy people, D4 will work, D6 will work, they're not that different. Read about racing mixture (type F) before you get into it.

Alright thanks guys

So D6 is better because it is for DW-1 which is the replacement for Z1?
Now, I'm leaning towards just mixing D4 and D6.

Why mix? Just go with the D6 if you're using RedLine.

D4 seems to be working fine for me, it is a noticeable improvement over DW1. Might order some racing Type F and add that into the mix.

Just be careful with the Accord, you can actually cause the clutch packs to hold/drag during gear shifts, it will increase clutch pack wear if that happens and may be hard to detect at first, not everyone has this problem but I've seen a few Accords that don't like a racing mix but just love D4. For some reason the Accords do not respond the same to a racing mix and gear changes do not noticeably change in some of them. If you go this way, monitor drain plug build up and if you notice an increase in deposits or even the slightest holdup in 2 - 3 shifts then immediately go back to D4.

Can't imagine there is much difference between the Accord and TL 5AT considering you can interchange them, at least through I believe '06 on the TL.

Mine does love D4 though, not in any hurry to do anything else.

Yes I realise its the same transmission. I have put this down to ECU TCU programming and slight DBW design differences, however that warning has been given for TL owners on this forum by the guys who originally tested the Racing mix. The main cause was thought to be clutch pack build tolerances, now combine that variable with ECU TCU programming and vehicle weight etc, they can add up to cause a problem in some vehicles. Like I said, I posted to inform people to just be aware of it, not to stop them from trying the mix. I can also tell you mine shifted slightly better back on straight D4 then on the racing mix - of course 7 years ago when I changed from the trans running a brand new fill of Z1 to a full change to D4 since then, it was a night and day difference in shift quality, I have been running D4 - apart from 6 months on lite racing mix in a V6 2004 Accord.

Accord computer doesn't let go of throttle when shifting up. TL's does, which helps reduce harshness and (I believe) permits use of non-friction modified fluid with relatively no negative side.

Huh. Didn't realize D6 was an option. Regardless, over had no issues with D4, so unless someone can tell me why I should switch, I'll just keep it up I guess. Still have enough for a 2x3 this summer anyway after doing 2 last fall.
