A cool state trooper+3G talk=A minimum ticket
So there are some cool troopers out there... I was on my way home from work merging onto the garden state parkway last night and I got pulled over by a state trooper. I automatically thought to myself "damn I was speeding I just hope he's not a dick". So he walked up to the passenger side and leaned down and said " How are you doing? dude I pulled you over because it looked like you were tailgating and you didnt use your signal while changing lanes and you were almost at 80mph" I didnt deny any of it, I said I was trying to merge in but that Cobalt cut me off I didnt mean to change without signaling Im at your mercy. He asked for my License, reg, and insurance and said let him run it and he'll see what he can do for me.
He went to his car where he stayed for about 5mins came back and said look I didnt give u speeding, improper lane change, or tailigating I gave you a seatbelt because I saw you slip it on when I pulled you over. I smiled and said thank you so much I really appreciate that. So he went on to say your 3G is nice... In my head Im thinking hey he said 3G ummmm nobody says 3G.... He then asks what am I dropped on I told him Function Form coilovers. He then confessed that he drives a 08 Type S and that my 3G was inspiring him he said your 3G is the first that I seen in person that looks tasteful and well modded, he asked me how did I come up with the vision for my car? I immediately shouted out Azine told him to make a account and browse around the site is awesome and folks on there are helpful as hell. He told me the reason why he let me go is because I wasnt a prick and that he knows how fun the car is. My cool story of the day.

There are some cool down to earth cops out there that do understand and this cop was one of them!
Forgot to ask - was it a younger cop?

Often, how you act from the getgo is pretty much what determines how the traffic stop is going to go.
Cops are people too, if you treat them with respect, you're only helping yourself.
Too often we hear about people telling their "I was pulled over for...........eff the police" stories.
We need more positive ones like this

APG, cool story. It's amazing that he drives a Type S!
So, what's a seatbelt ticket run you and does it go on your record?
My Highway Patrol Story.....
I got pulled over going way too fast in my Type S. It was a female highway patrol officer. She still gave me a ticket, but she said, "really gorgeous car!"

There are no NJ state PBA cards from NJ Troopers, they aren't members of that association, they have their own fraternal organization its called NJSTFA. Each Trooper gets 2 NJSTFA stickers with a serial# that can be traced back to them, each Trooper only gets 2 stickers their entire career, they are difficult to get. Some Troopers honor PBA cards but most will not. I have a PBA card as well as my 2 kids who drive do, it is from a good friend who is a NJ state PBA delegate. The only problem is that I drive like an old lady.
^ Just think if the APG had his seat belt on, it probably would have been a simple warning and no ticket.
Why would you want to drive at highway speeds and tailgating without a seat belt? That kind of defeats every safety device in your car.
Good story otherwise. The golden rule works great for cops or anybody for that matter.

GTP16 I swear I thought I signaled I was merging left before the cobalt took the lane from behind me. It wasnt even a lane change it was a merge and I never changed lanes the cobalt acutally changed lanes. I only tailgated to get into the merge.

I was pulled over 2 weeks ago for reckless opp (dropped the back end in my car) Its also POURING outside.
Cop pulls me over, asked to see my drivers license and insurance, then tells me, I pulled you over for that stunt you pulled back there
I replied, I'd hardly call that a stunt sir,
He asked have I recived any tickets in the past year, I answered no sir. He said sit tight
Comes back, gives me a verbal warning.. cool cops are out there....

something similar happened to me the other day to. I was still down in Nashville when i was following all the driving laws and wasnt speeding when i saw a cop light up his lights behind me. So i pulled over and was like "crap" hes going to say something about my windshield tint. To my suprise he came over to my window and said "I just wanted to tell you how nice your car looks and is one of the best looking cars ive seen. Its by far one of my favorite cars i see driving around in Nashville." Then he gave me a nod and said have a good night. That made my night! Anyway, thought i would share my "cool cop" story.
awesome story, cool cop!
my end, went to court because of speeding ticket from a trooper.. judge ask me what car i drove and i told him 05 acura tl. He then proceeds to ask me how fast can this car go?
shortly after, he said he didnt believe me and i still had to pay the fine, no point and PBJ (Probation before Judgment) lol story of my life

At the end of the day, if a cop wants to give you a ticket there isn't anything you can do about it.
I have been uber nice to cops before, admitted fault completely and you can just tell they had their mind made up from the start that they were gonna write you up.
A HUGE factor in whether you get off or not is your driving record. When I first got my license and had a clean record, i got let off like 4 times. Once i got that first speeding ticket they started coming in bunches because when that cop runs your info and sees you have a history of speeding, GAME OVER.
Moral of the story, having a clean driving record allows you to get off more often than someone(like me) who has a record of speeding tickets.

The first time I got a ticket it was on a parkway where the limit is 55, I was lasered doing 83 or 85 or something, the trooper was a machine, asked for license, gave me a ticket, said its 8 points and told me he would see me at court and would have towed my car if he wasn't "feeling generous" that morning. Went to court and ticket dropped to littering ticket LOL.
Second time a month ago, going down a parkway, limit is 55, doing 65, radar is on, cars going by me at much higher speeds, I am in the right lane, I see a cop hiding behind a exit sign, I slow down to 60, van never slows, cop turns his lights on, I smile thinking the dude in the van is fucked, cop pulls me over.
His exact words "The van in front of you was doing 75, I am estimating you were doing the same speed". Not only did he falsely clock me at 75, he gave me a bunch of tint tickets, no front plate ticket (my car has no plate because someone backed into me the plate was held onto the car by 3M tape and it fell off I show this and he says "too bad"), also gave me a ticket for having a NYPD highway patrol sticker in my windshield and lastly gave me a ticket for having HID fogs. My damn ticket was a legit scroll, the day i went to court to hand them all in the court clerks couldn't stop laughing, a bunch of people took pictures LMAO.
Anyway, my record is clean, no previous tickets on my record, he was simply a tool. He was hiding behind a one way exit, the worst part is he got the van and I get the ticket.
Oh well, lets see how this plays out.

The best lane to be in is the middle lane IMO. From now on unless I am passing I am always in the middle lane lol.

NJ PBA cards usually don't work outside of NJ, sometimes in NY but never in PA so I have a V1 radar/laser detector & let me tell you that if you ever drive up Rte 17 in NY past middletown don't even think of going over the speed limit! Last year I drove to upstate NY on business & canada on another trip & my detector was nearly overheating from the constant NYSP units parked all over using radar & laser. They were everywhere waiting for speeders. Rte 17 is tricky, speed limits goes from 65mph to 55, to 45, to 35 in some areas. I'm more concerned about tailgaters & reckless drivers then speeders on a highway. Its all about $$ not safety.

A radar is a MUST, I am glad I got jammers waiting to be installed.
Only state police care about the PBA badge, I have a NYPD PBA shield AND two cards and the city cop in my town actually gave me a ticket for that and a NYPD highway patrol sticker. State police honor it but thats about it. In NYC the shield will get you out of parking tickets from the meter maids.

that's really awesome OP!!
A couple days ago I actually was driving from downtown Minneapolis west on 394 doing about 70 (speed limit 55) when a trooper pulls up along side of me. In the full trooper Tahoe, no undercover. First he gives me the thumps up and then proceeds to get on the loud speaker and tell me to take my radar down!! WTF I pulled it down from under the mirror, gave him a head nod and smile and he took off. As soon as he was 2 seconds a head I put the radar on the dash and it just lit up!!! Not sure what that was about.
