Conventional or synthetic oil?

just got my 05 TL, thinking to change my oil soon but dunno if i should stick with conventional or synthetic oil, i don't do any hardcore driving in this car, never goes over 3500rpm because it gives me enough power and acceleration already....

anyway what kind do you guys use?

I've used Mobil1 5w20 and 0w30. I liked the 5w20 better and will switch back next time around.

5qt jugs at walmart cost $24. Sometimes you can get a $10 off coupon from the Autozone website (on 5qt jugs). You can take that coupon to walmart and the customer service manager will do an Ad-Match. Then you have 5qts of Mobil1 for $14. So what if it's refined from a hydrocracked Group3 mineral oil.

I use mobil-1 filters as well ($13 at Autozone), but royal purple filters are easily the best. Plus I can find them locally for $11.50 (summit racing here in reno). I will be switching to those next time as well.

Most people on this site recommend redline, but at $10.60+ /qt (if you can find it locally) it's hard to justify if you don't drive hard or race.

Spaceboy- congrats on your new car. This topic has in fact been discussed a few hundred times. I am not referring to threads that are 5 years old. Rather, there are recent threads from this year where you will find some great discussion. I invite you to use the search feature on this site and/or type in "conventional or synthetic oil AcuraZine" in google.

Thanks. This thread is closed.
