Bottom line is, this was a waste of gas.

This 1998 Contour SVT starts tailing me ... as he swings around to change lanes and pass me ... I just leave him car lengths behind me. After that humiliating "race", he isn't done yet ... I put on the brakes and sure enough when he tries doing his ricer flyby (As he's speeding up, I see his hazards come on) ... this is when I punch it again ... his bumper never got past my passenger door and I just bust up laughing .. the guy pulled a right turn and gave me the bird .

Definitely made my day after work ...

it gets tempting with cars like that on the road but you have to control yourself. i get annoyed by drivers like that, i sorta feel bad for them. common we are driving TL's or Acura's and I am very thankful for that. sometimes i let them win so they can be happy and at least give them some hope unless if its some punk kid then just smoke em. lol

The SVT Contour is not particularly fast, though it was reasonably sporty for its day. (0-60: 6.9 sec, 15.4 sec @ 91 mph <-- C/D April 1999)

Go easy out there. You should have just let him finish his ricer fly by.

I had a cavalier do that to me..............................in my work van i was trying to get in the left hand turn lane when he decided to speed up and not let me thru. When the light changed he revved (autozone muffler) and flashed his hazards, then sped off like my equiptment packed van would catch him..

Grand-Am GT, Contour SVT, and Malibu SS owners think they can keep up with any car. At first I wouldnt even try them because I thought they were faster than my mothers Lincoln LS back when I only had that car to drive. I finally got the chance to run one (GrandAmGT) a few months after I purchased my car and I left it behind like I do the LS.

^ yea, even a normal contour is one of the best handling FWD sedan in the world, on par with some Peugeot's and Alfa's.

We had them at Hertz when I was working there as a transporter. The 4 cyl model handled about as well as the 93-97 626 we had in our fleet. Being a relative lightweight helped a lot.
