Lightbulb Consolidated Alternate Oil Filter Thread

Hey Guys, I've been searching around for larger/different oil filters that can be used on our 3G TL's. I though it might be a good a idea to develop a thread where we can list all alternate filters in one area. So I'm asking for you help. Please list the brand, model # and the non-TL car the filter in generally used for.(like what the recommendation book in the auto parts store would list for that filter).

I searched for about an hour and I don't think there's anything like this out there. Hopefully it'll be useful and thanks for you help with this. Here's what I've got so far, please correct me if I'm wrong.

Mobil 1, M1-104, Honda S-2000

Bosch, 3312, Honda S-2000

AmsOil, EA020, ???

K&N, HP 1004, ???

The M1 M104 used to be spec'd for our cars. Until Honda went to the standardized Fram-made filter (15400-PLM-A02) for pretty much all Honda/Acura products.

There is a (partial?) list of available filters, and a lot of good oil filter discussion) in this thread: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/oil-filter-question-model-618843/

Have a look at this M1 filter vs Honda 15400-PLM-A02 filter teardown as well: https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-rdx-2007-2012-147/oil-filter-honda-vs-mobil-1-a-682139/

Right, there's plenty of good filter discussion on the forum. I was hopefully trying to develop a less partial, more complete list to serve as a resource for people, myself included.

Start with the list in the first link I posted.

Most of the rest is just overall discussion.

In that list, the Wix # is only listed by them for 2004. For 2005-2008 3G the filter is #51356. Just did mine Tuesday.

Wix #51334 or the NAPA Gold equivalent #1334, same filter with NAPA's name on it.

I've tried all the filters above including the Mobil1 and K&N.
NONE of them seem to keep the oil as clean as long as the WIX does.

No need to spend $13+ for an oil filter.

^not the RP.

RP filter last longer than all of them.

I'm running 5W-30 Redline and RP filter. In 10k miles the filter and oil still looks clean.

Pick your favorite brand filter and get the S2000 size.

Ironically, the TL's stock size is the upgraded and largest size for my GF's Murano. The stock filter was unbelievably small.

Oil will eventually get dark no matter how good the filter is. Some of the additives from heat alone will darken the oil.
