From my understanding some have issues other none at all with trannys. When I had my 03 TLS back in 04 I had the tranny replaced after 33k on it and I heard 04-06 had the same issues. Others will correct if that's accurate or not but I have an 07 base now and have had no issues period. Honda/Acuras are reliable cars you won't have many issues at all as long as the car was cared for.

Welcome Donavo. Shoot for a 2007 or 2008 TL, especially a Type S.

It depends on the mileage and the condition of the car.

I can only speak from facts to help you. I am the original owner of a 2005 TL and I have only made the following out of warranty repairs in 107,000 miles and eight years:
  1. Hood struts
  2. Hands Free Link Module
  3. Added rear camber kit to solve premature tire wear issue due to toe out of alignment
That's it! And that is why we have only owned three Acuras for our daily drivers since 1988 (Integra, CL, TL).

04-05 TL's you can find with about 100K on the clock, for around 10-12K. 06's go for about 15K and up, and then I didn't look at 07's cuz my pockets empty yo.

Lets clear the air. 04-08 trans is fine. My pops is a dealership parts manager and he sells maybe 3 04-08 trannys a month. All to owners with decent use from their car. If you don't know the deal with 99-03 here it is. Those year trans is a 5spd AT (like ours) however the case used was the same has the 4spd AT with a repositioned 2nd (cooled by splash) not good. As so 2nd gear (for daily use stop n go) would often over heat, warp, distort n pretty much turn to shit. This problem was fixed for the 3G TL and anyone saying different either dogged their like downshifting sport shift or simply had a lemon. (which does happen)! Or they own a 2G and are jealous n want to talk bad about the 3G. My 04 has 100k on it and I'm an extremely aggressive driver. Have no fear buying an 04-06. They are just as great as 07-08

I've Gone through my fair share of cars an just recently went through..
00 s2000
03 tl-s
07 335i
06 g35 sedan (same body as g37 haha)
01 s2000 (bought a condo)
04 tl
And I will say the car was almost 1/2 the cost of the g35 actually sold the s2000 for what I bought the tl for and the car has much better interior design and better mpg for a great daily. The one thing I don't like is that physically it's wider then the g35 so some times I'm very picky about parking stalls, I've already gotten door dings :/. An then there's the attacking doors that my gf has not gotten used to
