Considering replacing EL42s?

Do it.

I bought my car in November and recently got my replacement EL42s at the dealer. I immediately took the new tires down to a local tire place and traded them in for Michelin Pilot Sports A/S.

These tires make the car feel completely different. It is night and day. You obviously still get the slightly soft suspension, but it still amazes me how much tires change the driving/handling characteristics of a car.

It feels much more confident and sticky now, not at all like the insecure ride of the EL42s.

Just my .02

I too am amazed at the difference the Pilot Sports make. It's almost like driving a different car (in a good way ). Hell, even my g/f notices the difference and coments on how much more fun the car is to drive with the Pilots.

I feel so much safer with the Pilots in rain and snow than I ever did with the POS EL42s.

How much were you able to trade in the EL42s for at the local tire shop? Is it a national tire shop?

Hogan Tire was going to give me $135/tire for the EL42s if I could trade them in without them ever seeing pavement. Since I couldn't work that deal with my dealership, I got $100/tire trade-in, and the Pilots for $189/tire + mounting/balancing. I think total w/tax was just under $450.
