Comprehensive list of Type-S features

Comprehensive list of Type-S features
I did a search and couldn't find a thorough list, so I figured I'd make one listing the extra goodies you get with a Type-S.
All of these are straight from Honda News, and myself as I used to own a base until it got totaled and got a Type-S. I think I've covered all bases, but if you believe I have missed something, please point it out!

i'm shocked a list like this wasn't part of the marketing for the car when it came out
you know, 9 years ago

FIY all Type S interior are "Two Tone". I though the ATF cooler was for Type S but some member show their 07-08 Base has one as well.

Type-S came with the choice of Ebony/Silver 2 tone and Ivory with black trim/carpets. Great list OP, made a similar one a few years back. You are also forgetting the Moroccan red Pearl as a color for Type-S only models, wheels are painted a gunmetal color.

And I should have clarified in my original post like you did above with the 2-tone interior.
Also, a base model should have an integrated trans cooler, and the Type-S has a mini one, almost like a small radiator - on the driver side of the car. Also I didn't clarify on the power steering cooler either, both base and Type-S have one, but the Type-S is larger and has fins to help further cool it, as opposed to just a metal tube for the base.

This is true, mine has the larger brakes. I know there are a few other things the 6spd models got over the regular base TL. Since there was no type S for 04-06 the 6spd was sort of their "sportier option". Maybe someone knows exactly what they got, but I thought it was upgraded brakes, not sure about upgraded brake master cyl, beefier suspension parts but not to the same levels as type S I believe just stronger dampeners and spring rates, not sure about power steering...

04-06 TL with MT receive larger rear anti roll bar, damper or spring rate (either one of the two) for suspension along with brembo brake up front and LSD. 04-06 TL MT suspension is now where stiff as Type S. This is how it goes from soft to stiff. 07-08 Base TL --> 04-06 AT --> 04-06 MT --> 07-08 TL-S --> Aspec

The Type-S has the same black chrome on the rear strip as it does on the front grille. My post should be clarified.
- black chrome grille trim (satin chrome on base TL)

When I was shopping for my 3G TL earlier this year, every TL-S I saw seemed to be thrashed and/or WAY overpriced. I think a lot of "S" owners took to driving "spirited" a bit further than was prudent.
I ended up with a 2006 base model owned by an old lady who saved every service receipt. I'm a little envious of some of the TL-S features, but got a good deal and can't complain.

used cars are used cars.....
and to find a good one, you'll have to sift through bad ones...until you find the right one for the right price in the right condition....

One thing the 2004 6MT's have that NO OTHER TL HAS is the aggressive timing. Acura engineers SCALED back the timing on 05+ and then even limited the 2006+ even MORE.
what that means is you have one of the fastest and most aggressive TL's due the the ECU

Blah blah... over price? that depend on each person definition of over price. if the market goes for let say $15k and the car listed for $20k (assuming both car is in the same condition and mileage) that is over price. I am pretty sure when the owner buy the Type S they don't intended to drive under the speed limit nor think its a race car. I love how someone keep saying Type S over price while can't even get a Type S. I think I paid $26k for my Type S it must be over priced. lol what a joke.
In contrast I got a base TL for $10K even with 88K that was in very good shape. I would have preferred a Type S, but I didn't want a project car - needed to get to work and haul kids around.
If you or anyone else thinks my comment suggested I think ALL type S owners are careless idiots, well you probably are one yourself.

Dealership said they weren't Brembos when they inspected the car. Guess they don't know everything lol
and now I'm glad I didn't order my brakes yet. But now I'm going to figure out which pads to get
Very interesting to learn about the timing too. I love you guys who know everything about every year and trim lol
so gladni joined this site

The Acura RL also has a BBK but they are not Brembo Branded..they are ADVICS branded
Dearlers often get these mixxed up. saying the RL has Brembos...
kind of like how Kleenex is the brand of tissues.
or how in the south, we say coke for every thing....
Waiter: "Would you like a coke?"
me: "yeah, give me a dr.pepper"

if one WANTED to find out all this information by themselves, you can browse
Honda News
Honda details EVERYTHING about their cars in that website
and how i know that the 04's are more aggressive. cuz Honda themselves said so

Glad crab man notice....
I agree with you, ONLY idiots thinks owning TL Type S is special and worst yet idiots does a lot of trash talk but can't afford to buy one.
Hey I want an BMW M3 because the performance but they are way over price compare to 335i, but my broke ass can't afford a M3 so instead I become a keyboard warrior master. Its it because my dream car over price or my budget UNDER price to begin with?
Crab man I guess we both paid too much for a TL that way over price.
Look smart guy, I had a previous vehicle totaled, a budget to work with and a time crunch. I spent a week shopping and the 3 Type S I found for sale within 100 miles of me were all over $14K and had over 100K. Beyond that, they were all scuffed up and needed lots of TLC.
In contrast I got a base TL for $10K even with 88K that was in very good shape. I would have preferred a Type S, but I didn't want a project car - needed to get to work and haul kids around.

In addition to the model specific red interior lighting, the Type S came with red gauges rather than blue. Not sure if that's what you meant or if you were referring to the red footwell lighting and those lights that shine on the center console. I also think the radio display at the top of the dash is red rather than blue/white.
