Compass Mirror
I just bought a 2005 TL and to my surprise, Acura refuses to offer the auto-dimming rear-view mirror with a compass unlike Lexus, BMW and even Mazda. It's not even offered on the new '07 w/o navi. I really like the compass feature and would like to install an aftermarket mirror. I read that the Gentex mirrors are not recommended for Acuras, so does anyone have any suggestions?

Why is the Gentex not recommended for the Acura? I have one installed in my Nissan Frontier and it works great! It's pretty much a generic mirror, so I really don't see why it wouldn't work. Mine has the compass, temp and HomeLink and was pretty easy to install. One with just the compass would be easier because you wouldn't need to run the temp probe, just find a switched power source.
I guess there must be a give and take with the purchase of any car, especially a used car, as to the options, color, etc. If it's that important, best bet is to get a compass and add to the car if no auto/dim mirror is avaiable with compass.
Honda has a couple available, but don't know if they would be able to be used on the Acura.

Wait.. we have a compass on our mirrors? I have an 06 with navi and ive always wanted compass somwhere in the car. I miss the one that we used to have on the dash of our 03 G35 coupe with navi

the honda accord with navi has it I believe. Can that be used anyone?? I have a 07 type-s and would love to have the compass in the rearview. The compass on the navi only has a arrow shoing north. and you have to look down to see it. Much easier to glance at the mirror.
