Question Comparisons

Why do people compare the TL to the IS and 3 series?
Is it based on price?
I also thought of the TL as a mid size car, whereas the IS and 3 I always felt was a compact.
I would compare the TL to an ES or a 5 series.

I'd say all the above! They are all 4 door and in the same price range. Having owned all 3 of the vehs I can say with out a doubt my 06TL is a step above my 00 BMW 328I and 07 Lexus IS250 AWD. The TL is just such a better package all around in my opinion.

Hmmm I had the 5 series before the TL and I have to say im much more satisfied with the TL than the 5. However, I think the TL's MAIN competitor which it is matched up pretty well against is the G35

I think people compare those cars because they are similar in price and are considered luxury cars, but the issue is when you want to comparably equip the other cars the price just jumps where the TL is the best value and best car all around.

u cant compare them this year... in previous years noooo prob but the IS and 3 series and G35/37 were completely redesigned maybe when the 09 drops then they'll be a lil more comparable....just my opinion.

Yeah, they're mainly comparing price of the vehicles because as a consumer, you're comparing what type of car you can get for the money you're willing to spend.

Think about it - if you have $30,000 to spend on a car and you're doing comparison shopping, why would you be looking at a car that costs $50,000?

Actually I don't compare by price first, I usually compare by type/size then amenities and price

LoL. If I thought like that, I would've walked away with a e90 M5, not a TL.

Well you gotta look at if it's worth the $90K-100K to drive a car like that as opposed to a TL. Then again people will piss away an extra $50K on a car, that's why 60%+ of Americans are in debt!!!

I thought they were all part of the entry/sport/luxury class. Before I purchased my TL, I test drove the 335i, g35 and the is350. Eventhough they were smaller then the tl, I was trying to determine the best in that class.
