Coffee Spill!!

So I had a little coffee spill in my TL, just in front of the cup holders.. While most of it got cleaned up, I think some of the coffee may have leaked into the cracks around the shifter (auto transmission).
Question I have is: How would I take the console area apart so i can take care of the drying coffee under there? Would it be worth it to do so, or would I run the risk of screwing some stuff up? Thanks for the help, and sorry if this is in the wrong forum.

hey budd, "search is your friend" hahaaha...but the center console is a pretty simple task to take apart. I've taken it apart 3 times. Try this...

Hope this helps!

I slopped Coke down there and it became sticky .. solution was to get distilled water and spray the area and wipe it up in park then in low .. repeat every day for a bit and it will draw it all out .. that was a year ago .. still fine.

Nope no pix ... hahahaha ... welllllllllll... al I did was take the lid off a rattle paint can and put a couple wraps of closed cell thin foam around it and dropped it in the front holder so my cup/can didn't drop out of sight and I can actually get ahold of it .. but if ya want I'll get a pix ...

And the reason for your being impolite and not showing is????

Me personally, I kind of like the cup holders. I never put stuff in the rear one because it bothers my shifting motion. My XV6700 is usually on top of the cover right there:

I like that the holders sit low. They don't interfere with your arm for shifting (6mt).
We test drove an Audi 6mt that had the shifter 4 inches below the armrest. You had to bend your wrist at a 90 degree angle to shift the car. I couldn't believe the Germans would do something that ergonomically idiotic.
