Coasting - auto downshift question

When I'm coming to a stop light or even coasting, my auto transmission will downshift and cause engine braking. Is this normal? Seems like a lot though.

Car is newer to me (1500 miles). It has 50k miles on it. 2006 TL automatic.

If not normal, can it be corrected?

Shifting seems normal other than that.

Thanks!

Torinate

i hate it when i'm coasting to a red light and just as soon as my engine down shifts the light turns green so i hit the gas at the same time the engine down shifts and causes the car to jerk a bit.

anyone ever had that happen or is it just me?

Same thing happens in my sister's civic. Guess you catch the transmission at a bad time.

Same here. I usually shift to manual and just do it myself.
