Clutch makes clicking sound??

My TL is 6 mos. old/8k miles on it.

I noticed maybe 2 mos. ago in heavy stop and go traffic that my clutch started to make a clicking noise when I depressed it and released it. I also felt the click through the pedal. The next day there was no clicking and everything was back to normal no clicking noise.

Since that time I've been in similar traffic situations and the clicking noise never came back so I dismissed it. However, today after driving around in the city on my way back home the clicking started again.

I assume this is not normal, if so anyone have any insight as to what this is? Has anyone else encountered this issue?

My dealer orginially replaced a switch, then said it was normal, and I've heard of others who have this sound, so I don't think it's an issue.

I have noticed the EXACT same thing on my car as well. Car just turned 7k miles and the other day I too heard and felt this clicking you describe. The strange part is that I only felt it one time, and have not run into the issue again. I plan to have the service dept look into it when I bring it in next week for my 2nd oil change.

It's not the clutch you should be worried about. I think it just needs some greese or something. It only happens to me after a long day of driving, or during the cold weather.

to me the same thing happend the way you described it, i asked the dealer twice about it they never found anything wrong with the clutch is just the pedal i guess since everytime i put some wd40 it goes away ..... i wish i could find a permanent fix for this ...

I just got back from the dealer this week about this exact problem. They were able to replicate it, and they concluded it was normal. They also said there is nothing to grease in the clutch that would fix the problem. It happens all the time on my car, 18,000 miles. If there is a fix, I would love to hear it as well.

i think it is because of the long day or the long trips your TL has made, spraying WD40 should do!

Well the old clicking noise returned yesterday. My observation indicates that it only occurs when the temperature is high (a normal thing here in FL). Both times I have experienced this issue it was above 78 degrees outside. This morning on the way to work there were no clicks at all....

Normal is a term that Acura seems to like using. The funny thing is that my 17k Civic Si NEVER had a clicking clutch (21k + miles), so my question is why does my 35k Acura?

And Acura wonders why Lexus is poaching sales from them.......

I have the same problem. For me it started sometime around 5,000-6,000 miles. I reported it to the dealer when I went in for my first oil change, and they said that they found a loose pin that they replaced. The clicking noise was gone when I picked up my car, but unfortunately it returned a couple of weeks later. It's now been about 3,000 since then and the clicking is still here. I haven't bothered calling the dealer about it, but I'll probably ask them about it again when I go in for my next oil change.

I had the same problem in the beginning. Just spray some WD 40 where the clutch meets your inner well under the steering wheel and it will be good as new. I think it gets a little dry which causes that clicking noise. SInce spraying WD 40 over a year ago...no clicks.

It is not normal. I had a clicking noise in my clutch pedal and I could also feel a binding at the same point. On the first trip to the dealer, they lubed the hinge point and tightened up the "loose switch" and sent me on my way. It started doing it again after about 300 miles or so and I took it back. This time they replaced the master cylinder thinking the shaft was binding. This had been a problem on some earlier Accords. It started doing it again after about the same mileage. This time they had to replace the entire clutch pedal assembly under the instrument panel. This solved the problem.

W40 is a temp solution

W40 does the trick for me, but the clicking sound comes back after several months. I've applied W40 3 times so far (13000 miles on the car). I wish it was more convenient to spry it inside the clutch assembly .

This makes me kinda worried. Next time I take my car in for the service, I think I will ask them about it, and see what they think.

I think that is the one I was referring to in my post. Not sure, though.
Mine turned out to NOT be the mc and they replaced the entire pedal assembly under the dash.
TLNJ, let us know what they find.

That's the one. Once again, you come through!
There was also a similar problem with the master cylinder on some earlier Accords as well. I'd say 8-10 years ago or so.
Thanks again, rets/Lore!

Clicking noise and popping sensation in the foot started at about 7500 miles (a few weeks ago). It was intermittent, but like someone earlier, it seemed to be occurring in warmer weather (> 70 deg). Dealer was able to reproduce it last week, and has ordered a clutch master cylinder.

I've it since I baught and can reproduce everytime I depress and release pedal. Rets are you aware of any TSB on TL for this? last time I took into dealership they did something which made it disappear for awhile and the sound is back. I need to get this nailed. I'm almost getting used to that click...no more.

HERE IS THE ANSWER TO YOUR CLICKING QUESTION.. IT IS A SWITCH BY THE PEDAL THAT POPS IN AND OUT WITH THE RELEASE OF THE CLUTCH.. GET UNDER THERE AND YOU WILL SEE WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT. IT BASICALLY TELLS THE CAR TO NOT LET YOU START IT WHEN THE CLUTCH IS IN.. -

That's what the Acura dealers told me too. Honda said it didn't sound normal, but it would cost $95 for them to look at it because they don't do warranty work on Acuras.

I just started noticing it, and also the strange thing is that it doenst happen every time now; but if its normal shouldn't it happen every time? Im so confused
