Is clunking supposed to stop?

Hi I know the clunk sound is the self ABS test. When my car was new the ABS test would be VERY obvious. Now that I have 2600 miles it's not as obvious anymore, you can barely even feel or hear it anymore. It almost seems like it doesn't do the test anymore.

Is this normal? Does anyones TL with similar or more mileage do the same thing?

Thanks.

I guess you just get used to that sound/feeling... I have the similar doubt on my mind.

Yesterday, my car would "thump/clunk" in every chance I drove away from the lots, even I only parked for 1 min. But, today, it hasn't "barked" yet.

I have read many posts on this topic, yet my car has never exhibited this characteristic sound. However, my ABS works just fine, and I have just over 3000 miles on the car now.

I'm at 2,800 miles as of this morning, and I don't believe I've EVER hear this "self-test" sound since day one.
Now you all have me worried that my ABS isn't working!

I guess I should have added it was pretty common on my '97 Integra GS-R.

Hey wow - I just posted this EXACT topic the other day. Mine stopped making it too (which is fine by me since no other car I have ever owned did it so loudly or noticeably)

I have 12,000 miles on it. But I can assure you they work as that night I think it was, I had to really stop fast and they kicked in great.
I will still ask dealer when I go for tranny recall tho - just for peace of mind.

I've had my car for about four months now. The thud when your applying the break for the abs selftest went away. It took about 2 months, either I got used to it or it got used to my breaking :}

I have 9K on mine and it's still there. I don't feel it much unless I slowly creep up to 10 mph. I am sure most of us have gotten used to it and no longer notice it especially if you have the radio on or if you are driving over bumpy roads immediately after starting your car. The ABS diagnostic is essential I imagine. We just being desensitized over time.
