I found an 05 local to me w 133k miles the seller agreed to accept 6000 but I haven't seen or driven In person... What kind of things do I need to look for being replaced (besides the tranny lol) Lexus has a website where you can type in the vin and it shows every service of the car done at a Lexus dealer... Is there something similar like that for acura cars. Thanks in advance guys.. As I said just looking for a nice daily driver higher mileage is ok as long as the cars been maintained!!

Things to check for:

1. Timing belt/waterpump been replaced
2. Condition of fluids, especially tranny
3. Condition of motor mounts
4. Condition of lower control arms
5. Cracked dashboard

That's all I can think of now besides the obvious things you should look at when you go to see a used car. Good Luck!

Thanks main.... There was a guy kinda local to me who I recently saw his car on craigslist (an 04 blk/blk a spec kit and a lot of maintainance and mods) he recently sold it for just 6500!! He had his car for sale on this forum also and was along 7800!! It seems like primal wanted to flame me because I "only" want to spend 6000... 6000 I feel is a fair price I'm not looking for a 50,000 mile car! I kno they're out there guys c'mon... Who wants to trade me a nice tl for 6000 cash lol

Wow... I really don't understand the cocky was and sarcasm here...is this how a new member gets welcomed? I'm just asking if anyone is thinking of or knows anyone selling a nice tl to contact me. Why am I being flamed for mentioning a price of 6000 like only pieces of shit gets sold for that price or don't get sold at all? As I said there is a car I found a few hours from me w 133k the seller said he'd take 6000 but u haven't seen in person yet and would like to look at others.. Plus I mentioned there was a member from this forum selling his car for 7800 I contacted him and it actually sold for 6500! So my point is these cars do sell for 6000 and I'm sure a lot less also, I'm just putting it out there I'm looking no need for the negative or sarcastic comments... If you can help great and thanks if not thanks anyways. So alexson... Should I tell the other member who sold his car for 6500 to contact you about that land that you have for sale??

I've seen some listings pop up around $5000-7000, but they've always been 200k+ miles.

The junk yard maybe? No but seriously, it's not gonna be pretty for that amount of money. It's gonna be an 04/05 with a TON of miles, maybe a rebuilt or salvaged title. Just save up more otherwise with that money your still in the 2G generation.

^^^^^ did you think the members car I posted the link of in my earlier thread wasn't "pretty" or had a ton of miles? 160k to me isn't a ton of miles...I've owned cars with well over 200k on them some close to 300k!! The car I mentioned in my earlier thread is something exactly like I'm looking for... I don't think that's a needle in a haystack because as I said I found one a few hours from me for 6000 and it's an 05 clean title w 133k.again if anyone knows of a car or has a car please chime in

You can definitely find a TL for 6 racks, but it won't be pretty. Look for a 6-speed, it's much better.

2 months ago i was welcomed with the same sarcasm as not wanting to spend 20 grand on a used tl......anyways i bought an 04 tl with 145,000 miles automatic......body isnt perfect but its not bad either....car has been running great for me and i have been replacing some parts here and there like brake pads rotors,needed a caliper, changed spark plugs, sway bar endlink.....just all small stuff but i am in love with the car, good luck on your search

Just n space yes I originally wanted to post a wtb thread but don't have enough posts. Not looking for anyone to "do my homework" by asking if anyone knows or is thinking/looking to sell their tl. Still don't understand why people on here think I'm gonna get a total shit box for 6000. Said it once and I'll say it again there is a nice 05 tl by me w clean title and 133k for 6000 but I'd rather keep looking and also no one commented on the members car here that sold for just 6500 and wasn't in need of ANY major repairs, had a bunch of extras was clean title etc etc... Thanks all for the support/help maybe I'll just need to post once I've actually bought the car for 6000 or less/maybe more and shit up all the flames who think/thought they know it all!! Isn't the purpose of a forum to help others/get knowledge and share the love that we all have for cars?? My main question is is there anyone here looking to sell their tl or know of someone seeking a nice tl for 6000 or close to it. I got a lil off track when I first got flamed lol and then started asking ably what to look out for when/if I go check out this 05 close to me. Also wanted to know if there was a website where I could check the service history of an acura through vin. I'm just looking for a nice tl... Be easy on me guys lol.

What is that exactly? You want to buy a car? Do what everyone else does, start searching, Craigslist, local dealerships, etc. Sounds like you have to an extent. They are out there in your price range, but you'll have to be patient.

I've looked on cl and autotrader... Figured I'd try here because the cars here are owned by acura enthusiast and therefor should/may have all the problem areas addressed/taken care of already. I live in Florida and was saying around 6000 because I'm factoring in a shipping cost because the car may not come from this state. I also posted threads of my other cars I've owned/sold to let you guys know I'm also a car enthusiast/and to show that I've sold to many different people from different states/I don't scam or do people dirty/have vouches. Just trying to show you guys because I am a new member here and wanted to let you know I'm serious when it comes to my cars!! Thanks guys

cars .com serach yielded 25 cars nationwide that meet your $6k criteria for a 3G TL. some at acura dealers, most at indy dealers. no idea as to the title status.

you obviously know you are getting a high mileage TL which you are fine with. i understand why some of the guys are giving you a hard time, b/c searching out a car isn't terribly difficult since i just did a quick search on cars.com of what is out there today. now it's a matter of what you exactly want in/out of the car. anyway...good luck in your search...you currently have 25 to choose from (nationwide search).

as far as answering your other question about acura VIN checks...no such system exists as far as i know since dealers do not submit service history to the data base unless they are a part of it. you may have to contact the dealers directly listed on carfax. even then, they may not give you that info freely over the phone unless you are actually the owner.

I've already searched cars.com autotrader and craigslist in several states.... Not to say I'm picky but I'm not nor never gonna settle for a car just because. I have to have a feeling/like for the car and won't just pick up because the price is right. Thank you for your direction to cars.com already been there...
