Clearing TL headlights

I hate the amber markers on my headlights and I want to get rid of them...I was thinking about buying type s headlights but that's quite a bit of money for not too much of a difference besides less of that orange and better lighting which I really don't wanna spend the money on...I read you can put them in the oven and then take them apart? I was wondering if there was any other way to do this or if a car modification place could do this for me?

Thanks

My buddy used a heat gun. he heated up the seal and used a knife to cut open the seal.

People throw them in the oven for like 10 min at 200(no preheat) take them out and pullthem apart. The heat gun will work but will be more difficult. Or you can pm a Member acktl05 to do them for you..he does custom headlights/tail light etc..

I found a heat gun to work the best, just don't leave it on one spot to long! Then I use a wide flat head screwdriver to seperate the lens from the housing, and work from the inside to the outside.

You need to take the headlight housing out of the bumper right? I'm assuming that has to be done?

^be patient and dont rush.

if you rush, you'll end up with a fucked up job.

Dedicate a whole afternoon to this project, even more time to plan.

So after you get them out and you take the housing apart to the amber reflectors pop off?

There are three globs of plastic holding the chrome strip to the orange diffuser to a holding bracket. You'll have to snip those off, take the orange diffuser apart, then epoxy the chrome strip back to the holding bracket.

carefull with that chrome strip too. It will flake off if handled too much. always wear some latex gloves to prevent prints. Get some ZKW-R's or you will do all that work and regret not doing it.

Tibz, if you decide to put them in the oven, we did mine at 200 degrees for 20 minutes.
