Clearing headlights service
Alright since this place is reopened Come on in.. I really need a place to do my Headlights. I heard a guy can clear them for 80 bucks.. Well thats what aznbo told me but he told me it would cost more to blacken I think..
Can anyone do this for like 80 - 100 bucks ? (im assuming this is a fair price..) Because Im scared to do it myself and I know about 4 other Tl-S drivers that will come to you in socal

Did 'em myself and the only PITA is to take the bumper/headlights out. Do them yourself and save yourself a hundred bucks

Found this in the 3G garge along with some pictures. Is it that hard? I guess having the right tools to take off bumper and headlight will make life easier other than that, it seems easy. I know a mechanic that I borrow tools from when I did my mods. He might even have a oven for us to use. If anyone is intersted, I can ask him if we can borrow his stuff and place and I'll help you out.
Clear Lights
1. Remove Headlights
2. Place headlights on a wet towel inside of an oven. Heat oven to 225 degrees. (Do not preheat)
3. After 20-25 minutes remove headlights from oven.
4. Seperate headlights by hand starting from the inner corner.
5. Allow to cool for 10 minutes. Using a razor, trim excess silicone from the inside of the lens cover. Do not remove silicone from the black portion of the housing where the sealant channel is, you will be reusing it.
6. Remove thw two screws that hold the chrome housing to the lens cover.
7. You may now pop out the amber reflector by pushing a CLEAN screwdriver or any utensil for that matter through the hole fpr the parking light.
8. Reattach the chrome portion of the housing to the clear lens.
9. Place lens and black housing back in the oven at 225 degrees for 10 minutes. Do not reassemble yet.
10. After the stock sealent has softened remove both pieces from the oven.
11. Add a small, fresh bead of silicon to the sealant channel on the black portion of the headlight housing.
12. Beginning from the outer side of the headlight, reattach the lens portion of the housing to the black portion.
14. Tighten lens to the black housing in each corner using bar clamps.
15. Allow 24 hours for silicone to cure.
16. Cover holes with duct tape. Test for leaks in steamy bathroom.
17. Put back on car.

no pain, no gain! If I do mine, will you let me do yours?
ive been on the edge about doing this myself for like 3 years already... if would be better if a bunch of us just got together at someones house and figured it out as a group and do all the cars in one day.. i think having 10 people working on one would be less mess-up proof than doing it yourself
wow, if you guys can find someone to clear 10 headlights for 50 a piece, that's insane.
having done mine, there is no way id even think about doing that. i heard some were charging 180-200 to do both headlights and also removing the bumper, the whole thing.
that would sound reasonable due to the time involved and the risk of messing them up as well. it's not an easy plug and play type thing. and i dont think a person would be able to do more then 2 in a day.

IF you dedicate a day and a big garage cmon now you can do more than 2 with enough man power assisting you aint like we are gonna stand by I dont mind getting my hands dirty. Taking off the bumper is the easy part clearing the headlights will be hard..
with 10 people 50 - 80 bucks a piece should be great deal.. the guy is making 500 bucks for 3 days of his time...

WOW...If I had any more vacation left this year I would ask anyone of you to let me sleep in your quarters and would fly to CA with my tools on hand.......my next door neighbor here in MA gave me a 30 pack for clearing his 07 Si and have done it on my previous cars,....it's not hard if you take your time...sealing the healights is more of a PITA as you allways second guess yourself but trust me it doesn't take a MBA to do this....just patience and confidence...now who lives at home with a single mom...wait...I'm married scratch that...
i have thought about doing this for people kind of like the chrome rim exchange. Pay for the lights (cleared) and a deposit. I ship you the cleared out lights and you ship back the original ones and get the deposit back. This would leave little down time. Not sure what a good deposit would be since they are so expensive and some people might try to send in cracked or broken lights. Anyone know where to get a relatively cheap set to get me started?
