Clearing Headlights Experience
Hello Everyone,
Well this weekend I found myself w/ nothing to do so I decided to stop prolonging the clearing of my headlights.
I followed the instructions as seen on the forum, and let me tell you it definitely wasn't easy. The taking of the bumper light was really easy, but the whole process of closing the headlight back up sucked!!
One of them came out good, but the right one in particular cuased me alot of problems.
First off, the chrome strip that holds the amber reflector comes loose once the amber piec is removed. So I put some super glue to hold it in place. (not a smart idea). I put the headlight back in the over to seal everthg up when I come to find a foggy ness on the headlight, I just ignored it and cmae back a couple of hours later. Well the dam crazy glue caused a white film to apear where the chrome strip was.!!
So I was forced to open it back up. (This is where the nightmare began). I used a expoxy to seal them up and this stuff does not get warm like the other stuff, I almost melted the inner corner, and the darn thing just would not close liek before since there was so much expoy alredy dried in the grooves.
So anyways I put the headlight back on the car no problems, (yeah right). The lower part of the headlight is fogging up, so I think i have to take everythign back off and reseal it again.
It so damn cold now that I'm just gonna wait till spring buy a new right headlight and try once more.
I just wanted to shart this story with everyone else. Just be careful!!
One thing I also noticed when putting the bumper back on. The right side of the headlight is not fluch w/ the bumper. Does anyone know what kind of adjustments I wold need to make to so that it sits flush?
I'll post pics soon.
Thanks,
Serge

if the headlights arent flushed with the bumper u need to loosen some bolts and push it sorta in a upward position or whatever position to get it flushed again and maybe hold it with ur knee to keep it there while you use the socket and screw in the screws
they got some headlight sealer i forgot the name that i used but if u need it PM me and i can find out.....it works great
i had messed up one headlight of mine when i did and now they are perfect!
good luck!

.:KCCO:.
take the headlight out and see if there is a pool of water around. try to find the spot in the edges and make the water come out there. make sure its as dry as possible.
then jam epoxy into the edges. and i mean jam it into the edges. push it into every single crevice.

Check to see if you have anything inside the bumper that may be in the way. I had that problem too and found out that the wiring for my aftermarket fogs were in the way. You may have to push/ pound on the bumper around the headlights to get it to go in further.

dtpjigzer,
I don't mind to do it for you as long as you let me borrow your car for a week after u have S/C installed
Have you been to one of those sacramento or bay area meet?

I would rather let sum1 else do it if the risk exceeds the cost but @ the same time its not a legit company and who knows, he may be the "headlight stealing master"
It's a common enough mod though & i thought i wouldnt have to find a freelancer to do it but hopefully i'll be able to find a legit body shop to do it for me b4 i get too bored like the guy who started this thread.

If I had to do it all over again, I would take this route. Your time is worth more than $150 IMO. Think about how much electricity used for baking and the the time waiting for the silicone to get soft. Think of the burnt fingers! I think $150 is definitly worth it, esp with a guarantee this guy is giving.
Good info ililililililililililililil. Did I miss any letters?

definitely be careful. each headlight cost around $540. i'm sure you can find them cheaper but the headache you have to go through. i had a shop do mine. i just don't have the patience nor the time. hope everything works out.
BTW, a little off topic. anyone know if i can get just the lens. i don't need the housing or the bulbs. i have so many rock chips that i wanna replace them. i've seen the housing sold on ebay but haven't seen the lens by itself. any ideas?

Guys,
Thanks for all your suggestions. I am just gonna remove the headlight and put more sealer around the headlight. Most of the fogginess is gone, so that good, but just to be safe I really have to put sealer. In terms of it not sitting flush I am gonna try again and see what the heck is not allowing it to sit flush. Thanks for all your comments.
P.S
If I knew of a bodyshop or person who would do this for me for 150 I would have definitley paid for it. Its too much of a hassle. At this point I just wanna seal that damn headlight and never have to touch it again.
I'll post pics tonight so you all can see for yourself and comment on how they came out.
Thanks,
Serge

The seller was banned because he would continuously not pay his vendor fees, even after repeated warnings.
He also tried to circumvent the rules by posting his email address in his signature after he was specifically told not to do so.
And he registered under a new user name so he could mention himself in posts.
The reason that the links do not work when you put them in is because the computer has been programmed to alter any links for him, and also to delete his user name if it is posted.
Of course you can circumvent these controls in various ways, but we will know when you do and delete them and watch for people who continue to do this after they have been told not to.
This forum does not charge it's members and it limits its advertising so you won't be distracted by ads and popups. The only way it can continue to exist is if we support the paying sponsors and vendors, and if we (the moderators) allow people to sell things here without paying the fees then we are not doing our jobs.
