Clearing driver history
I just got my 06 TL, and i recall reading a post on here recommending another new owner to clear the driver history. What is the procedure for that and should it be done? What is the benefit?
Thanks

^dunno wtf you're talking about.
butt, if you want to clear anything...disconnect the negative terminal from the battery for like 2-10 secs.
or, if you're talking about the driver's phone book, why not play with all the options inside the car.
a brand new car to you should be like christmas, and you should spend some time inside the car playing with all the settings.

I forgot how exactly to clear everything manually(history and address), but an easy way is to access the diagnostic menu, and select the Hawaii map. It will attempt to load it, and when its unsuccessful it will return to CONUS map and everything will be reset to factory setting and all history gone.
I found that out by accident one time

The HFL can store only a limited number of phone numbers, so you may want to clear those if you need the space or the stored number's IDs sound similar to yours. The Navi keeps a record of 50 or so prior destinations-- newest ones will replace the oldest ones at that point.
The HFL will direct you with audible prompts once you say "setup," IIRC.
The Navi info can be cleared and/or amended (for owner info) using the "Setup" button below the screen.
The procedures are described in the Owner's Manual and Navi Manual. If you didn't get the hard manuals with the car, they are available on-line at: http://owners.acura.com/vehicles/warranty .

I will say i could have sworn before I got the car I read a post on here where someone mentioned this and listed steps like turning the key on with the accelerator pedal on the floor, then shutting it off and some other stuff. Does that ring any bells or am I thinking of something else, or just nuts?

^that's to reset throttle position/ECU, as our ECU is self learning and will learn your driving pattern/habit.
but a simple pull of the negative terminal on the battery will take care of anything that needs to be reset.the throttle and ecu will reset just by taking off the negative terminal for a few seconds.
for your "non-issues" you'll just have to be like EVERY one else before and after you, and play with settings in your car.

There doesn't seem to be a definitive answer. I would think it wouldn't because it supposedly stores how a guy drives and shifts the AT appropriately. But you can do the reset and try it, you can't hurt anything.

I myself, just from playing around with the settings, have managed to erase everything from the previous owner except for the address book. I could delete them one by one, but for the amount of time that would take, I would rather do something else. If anyone knows how, that would be great,

While you're sitting there erasing the contacts you're sitting in your TL's driver seat though. It could be worse, you could be sitting in a dentist chair.
