Cleared headlights?

Does anyone know the best way to clear your headlights (amber removed)?
I've heard it's actually not that hard to do it yourself, but it's a long ass process.

Check the garage. With a little bit of searching the forum you will see there are numerous threads on this. Very easy to do.

Monika,

It is a long process.....I've done it. It's very worthwhile.

Take off the nose of the car.
Remove headlights
Bake them in an oven for 20 minutes at 200 degrees.
Remove them and remove the clear front lens from the body of the light assembly.
Remove amber
Close back up and re-adhese with silicone
Re-bake headlights
Re-install into the car.

Those are the crib notes for you.....

Just follow what SB said. But instead of silicone, I'd use a butyl strip.

Doesn't sound hard at all. Would I have to re-bake for the same amount of time and temperature?

Bake them to open them. When it's ready to close the headlights back up, put your new strip of butyl in the channel, push in to get the air bubbles out. Out the black back housing in the oven to soften butyl go along the seam again with a Popsicle stick to squish it in more to ensure you have no air bubbles. It cools quick so when you're done with that put it back in the oven to soften butyl, put lenses back together and clamp shit all along the edges over night and should be good to go the next morning.

Also. The retrofit source is your friend. You can buy new hids if yours are old, can buy butyl and clear lenses as well.

It's not that hard of a project to do, it just takes some balls.

All you gotta do is take your time and you'll be good.
