Clear Tail Lights

So those are bad-ass right? I want to make some for my TL. What I'm wondering is, under the factory red tails, are all the lenses clear? I'm thinking about getting a pair of TL-S lights, opening them, and taking my factory lights (assuming the lenses beneath the red outer lens are clear) and opening them up, transplanting the clear lenses over, and driving around looking oh-so-cool

does anyone know if the factory lenses are clear beneath the red?

I believe they are. Someone on here modded their tails and completely cleared them out. Some people bashed him for it but it did look pretty good. I'll see if I can find the thread.

I think there are only two people who have done it, and Sunny201 is one of them.

SRT-11, are you in the tri-state area because there is a meet coming up in 2 weeks, and Sunny201 will be there.

Is there anyone who has cleared just the signals on a 04-06 tail-light leaving everything else stock red? Is it even possible? Or does the red parts all have to come off together?

Meaning the outside is still red? The inside of signal len on the 04-06 are clear.

I want to do mine. I like ua6spec's version and would like to either do that or completely clear them. Any DIY threads on this?

I had a thread somewhere. I did my last year. You might need to do a search on that.

Yup it look nice depend on your preference. I did my signal clear because I don't wanna be hassle by cops. I think if you smoke out the whole tail light, it might look nice too if its all clear out.

Its not as hard as it seems... those are pics of my tail lights that you found up there. So far as long as Ive had those tail lights I have not been harassed by any cops. Ive been pulled over twice by two different state troopers and none of them have said anything about them... or the fact that my lights hyper flash.

I like the way they look on my car. Many people might not like them but I think it looks good. It definitely wont look good on some other colors, but with my rims and everything on, they flow with it.

Edit: Theres also a DIY thread around here.. search for my thread when I first put them up and theres links to it on there.

If I get a set of tails, would anybody in the Tri-State be willing to help me get a setup like ua6spec's?

I was going to do the 3 reflector piece in white n the turn signal in red but it didnt mesh well with ssm..... so i made its ghost now. I didnt have time to rip the bumper off tonight but for sure tomorrow night.
Aspec yes they are a mix from old 04-06 and type s the white comes from 04 the gunmetal and clear lens piece comes from 07

So in ua6spec's version of the tails the signal part is not just a delete of the red? I would need both sets (04-06 tail and Type-S tail) to get tails like ua6spec?

I'm thinking that Sunny's (the all clear) looks best on NBP. What do you guys think? I am thinking about doing this. I really like the all clear the best. I have a stealth look though. So when you say smoke the all clear, are you talking about putting rockblocker over it? If so, I am not a fan of that. I would just leave mine clear if that is the case. I do have to admit that ua6spec's version is growing on me, but it might be because of that angle. The previous pics seemed like too many different colors for me.

If only I could get someone to do what Sunny did to his to mine...

sorry dude each lens took 4 hours to do perfectly..... I practiced my cuts n measurements on the red lens and perfected it on the type s lens....I would do it but it wouldnt be cheap.....after the cuts I plastic welded them shut n flashed a light on the lens side to see if there were any gaps....I didnt see any but I still put a heavy bead of silicon on it.

Damn I like sunny's setup! I wonder how it would look on PMM (the new AM). If anyone could set up a pair for me let me know.

Polished Metallic Metal, it's a new color for 08. Looks almost exactly like Anthracite except it is a tiny bit darker. It is indistinguishable to most people.
