Um, Hello?

My headlights ARE clear from the factory. So are my driving lights.

My turn signals are amber. Is that what you are talking about? If so, isn't there a legal requirement that front turn signals be amber? Or, would you replace clear bulb with an amber one?

And why would you want to do it? So it looks like that monochromatic car up there^ on the top of the page??

I don't mean to repeat myself, but...

What do you mean by "cleared headlights?" My headlights and driving lights are already clear.

Yes, I saw the pictures and the car looks good. Does it look better than my stock NBP? That's a matter of taste, I suppose. It looks slightly different. The turn signals are not amber. Is that better or just different? Taste.

The wheels are bigger. Is that better or just different? Taste. It will make the gearing longer and negatively impact accelleration but would theoretically increase top speed (in a vacuum). Somehow, I don't think this owner is concerned about that.

I love the way your car looks the same way I love the way mine looks.

I'm trying to understand. I think that it must be driven by the desire to have something different, something customized and not just like all the rest. Am I close?

OK..as I try to maintain calm :captobvious: , WTF? Thats a big derrrrrrrrrr when it comes to taste. Opinions are like assholes, everyone's got em, some of them stink. My point is this: I HATE DRIVING AROUND ANY OLD NBP TL THAT LOOKS LIKE ALL OF THE OTHER ONES! to me, its boring, blah, and doesn't grab attention. I have tastefully modded my TL and made some good choices IMHO. I get so many thumbs ups daily, and nice comments, more so than my 745i (but thats a whole other controversial car). Yes, larger wheels may SLIGHTLY effect acceleration negatively, but what they have done for toning down the torque steer, increasing handling capabilities, providing a smooth ride, and just plain making the car look that much better, ill take the slight hit on acceleration. And, I'm sure my CAI and 6MT would still take your 5AT, so don't fret too much!

Im not trying to say the stock TL looks bad, it looks good in fact. I have modded all 9 cars i Have owned...so this is nothing new for me. Try to keep an open mind, and realize that people mod cars for reasons MORE than just looks, and you know...too piss off the oldies that "can't comprehend why 'anyone' would want to change such a good thing already and not just leave it alone"

Don't get all worked up, Vegas. I'm trying to understand, as I said. You are explaining it to me. You have a greater need to grab attention than I. That's neither right nor wrong. It's just different motivation.

LOL. That's the farthest thing from my mind. I would never race the same car I am driving. It's a waste of time and an abuse of $70,000 worth of fine machinery. All other things being equal, I would expect a 6MT to be slightly quicker than a 5AT. So, why go through the risk of life, limb, tickets, and mechanical trauma to confirm something everyone already knows? That's juvenile, IMO. Not to mention undignified. It would prove nothing and only serve to entertain the gawkers who only wish they could have either car.

As I said, I do understand your need to be different and to stand out from the crowd. And you're right also that there might be a correlation with age as I am past being a teenager. I DO remember when I had that need as well. I think it had something to do with adolescent angst (in my case). I hope I haven't come across as condescending or disapproving. That is not my intention. I am just stating that I am not similarly motivated to that extent.

Although I did pull all my wheels off and paint my brake calipers gold. <blush>

I will repeat what I said that you seemed to overlook: I think your car is beautiful. I would never put down a guy's car- especially one that looks so much like mine (see pics).

Obviously, we have similar tastes. My other cars are a BMW and a Jeep Wrangler. At another time and place, we can discuss the merits of the 745. That should be fun.

Hey Vegas, what do you mean by having blue LED interior lights? Do you have any pictures? It sounds interesting.

Thanks,

anyone who needs attention from others while driving is immature to begin with. there are some real low renters dragging down the tl demographic unfortunately.

I think he means removing the orange along the sides of the headlights like in the header picture on the forum.

, how much do you charge and is clearing more then just removing the orange? Thanks

I charge $150 if you drop off the headlights and $200 if I need to remove and install the headlights..

Well the orange is actually attached to the center piece that runs in the middle of the orange. So there is a bit more work than in the 2nd Gen but its the same concept..

:fingerfawk: It is to differentiate my TL from the sea of others out there...not to draw attention to MYSELF personally, I don't have any problems in that department THANKS VERY MUCH

Low renters? Puh-lease, let's not start a pissing match, :pee: im pretty confidant I would win. :sqntfawk:
