Clear diffusers on cleared headlights.

I'm having my headlights redone and I'm planning on having JnC throw in some clear diffusers. I feel like it would help even out the switchbacks...

After a quick search, I found this picture:

For those of you that have these and switchbacks, do you like the clear diffusers?

Looks like those are chopped Type-S diffusors. I did some headlights like that before. I am still waiting to see if someone can produce a whole diffusor with a white reflector. A few unfinished threads are out there about it.

IMO, I like the switchback look without the clear diffusers. The bright dot led pattern given off by the switchback fills out the chrome housing of the turn signal very nicely at night. The white LED switchback color matches 6k HID bulbs perfectly (at least the ones from v-leds do). If you want a more even/diffuse white look, then i'd go with the clear diffusers.

Yep, and chill_dog just bought a set!! Should be here before the weekend. I've already spent a good bit of the morning looking into parts for my diffuser project.

haha chill_dogs diffusers are in the mail

I actually am contemplating this install myself... as im quite the headlight guru

bforbrian has them, (i think he was the first) and they look bad-ass... and make his switchbacks shine

i just did my LED sidemarkers, and i am FINALLY (after almost 2 years) going to install switchbacks... i bought the 48LED ones.. if they arent bright enough in the day time, im gonna put in clear diffusers...

i think we should find a plastic company and have them make a mold of the OEM diffusers, so we can have full clear ones, instead of the "chopped" ones

^Sweet. As for getting them made, a couple of people have tried...

1) A member way back when was going to get a guy in NY to make them. The guy had a bad history as a vendor on this site, so the project was stopped.

2) lights had a place that was going to make them, but got nowhere with getting vendor approval from the site (at least based on his thread).

By the way Allon, did you have/send the yellow reflectors, too?

Thanks. It'll be a while before I post pics as I still have some work to do with them (not just putting them in as is), but I'll get some as soon as the headlights are done and in. I'm thinking mid to late February, just in time for out meet at the beginning of March.

Lights tried to get these made for us....
There was a big enough interest on Azine... but if I recall correctly he never got word back from Astro or if he did---it was a no-go.

Someone else tried a long time ago, but the outfit he was going to use had a bad history as a vendor on the site. There was a lot of interest then, too.

yea i shipped them with the amber pieces... not sure if you ever seen the type-s diffuser, but the amber pieces actually "pop" right out if you want them too

Yep, well aware how the diffusers/reflectors work. Believe it or not, the reflectors are key to my project; need them indirectly for Plan A, directly for Plan B. As my luck would have it, Plan A is involved and complicated, but it should be worth it. Plan B is easy and doable in five minutes...it'll work, but it's not preferred. Time will tell which I go with.

Got your PM...thanks again.

clear diffusers alllllllllllllll day
get them, they help dissipate the switchback light during the day too..

what I REALLY want to see, is a stock type s headlight that was opened but with the corner NOT painted black... just removing the amber pieces and leaving the chrome behind..

I hope JnC can show a set like that because I LOVE the clear look but I feel like the two rectangles that hold the amber pieces might make them look bad.

So if anything can get a pic, type s headlights with the amber removed but the corner not blacked out

I'm going to start on a BRAND new set of type s headlights (my old ones will be in the market soon) with the audi leds AND angel eyes with separate swiches so I can turn each on individually when I'm in the mood.

^The things I miss by not going back into threads. I agree, those back pieces need to go if you're not utilizing the reflectors (painting them or installing clear ones).

Haha.. yeah I remember Mr. Z I P P S from NJ he tried to get them made. He was the first one but I think they denied is verdorship on this site. From what i've been told by other vendors on this site is that sometimes the fees associated with Azine just doesn't give them enough headroom to make their while worth it and that's why many of them can't start up and die out. I've heard this from not only one but many vendors, only those that have a crazy amount of buyers on hand can make it.

I probably could get it done, since I do know a lot of plastic fabricators so if anyone wants to give me a set of their diffusers I can give it a shot and then see if I can get it made and if its worth while doing. It might be like a one time shot where all diffusers are made in one shot and that's it so whoever gets in on the initial batch that would be it. I want these for myself so dont really care to profit from this. Just trying to get it for other people as well.

PM me if you guys have a set of diffusers that are lying around I can use. If I can get it to go through then I'll contact for vendor status and we'll take it from there.

so what does everyone think of diffusers without amber but leaving those two rectangular pieces in front of the chrome housing.
