clear corners lights

i am in search of clear corner lights. i have read that i can remove the corner fixing and take out the amber part and place a clear bulb in. would this be risky? how easily does the amber part come off?

EggrollXpress has tried it and not succeeded. I suggest you PM Mr. (he hangs out at the 2nd Gen forums) and he will do it for you for $150. It will be the easiest way to get it done.

You can search the forums for more info both on Mr. and clearing your headlights. There are a couple of good threads on it.

It is risky, you have to heat the headlight assy to get the lense off then pop the amber inserts out. The tricky part is getting the thing properly sealed again.

some poor dude tried this recently and had major problems. apparently you have to remove the front bumper to do it. he had all kinds of problems and he messed up his bumper (cracked off paint i think)

it can be done, but you have to do it right.

check out my link to my pics.

no it ain't rice like others have suggested, very unique, really makes the front of the car sportier, cleaner looking. There is WAY too much amber on the front of this car IMHO> Bite the bullet, pay him the 150, and Air freight via UPS or FEDEX and u can have them back and re-install them yourself within about 4 days total for the whole process. Just dont drive at night or have your friends drive you around until u get them back in. I have another vehicle, so it was no biggie for me. although my friends laughed at me bigtime when i was driving the TL around during the day cuz i had these huge gaping holes where the headlights were missing, my dad said it looked like its eyes had been pecked out by a crow or something LOL!

Vegas - that looks sweet! How does it looks with the lights on though? Just curious as it looks like the amber lenses were removed, but white/clear ones were not put in its place. So you basically have the bulb exposed, correct?

I e-mailed him. He said it would take about 4 hours if I dropped my car off...and for $200 he would take the lights out himself and reinstall it. That sounded reasonable to me.

Looks great with the lights on. i experimented with several different bulb colors before finding the closest match, which ended up being the PIAA Extreme HID bulb (not really HID) . Yes, the bulb is exposed. It looked much cleaner with a silver caoted bulb but they didnt put out enough light to reflect in the light assembly, and a clear bulb was just too dingy of a contrast against the HIDs, so I went with the PIAA bulb. Only thing that sucks is it is a blueish tinted bulb, so you can see the bulb from different angles in the light assembly.
