Cleaning Navi Screen

Any suggestions on the best way to keep the Navi screen clean without scratching? I have been using tap water and tissue but was thinking of buying some wipes I could leave in the car.

Buy some Isopropyl alcohol pads from your local drug store and use them to wipe. The alcohol evaporates so there is no chance of water damage to the electronics.

I would read the nav manual, pg 9 says to clean the screen with a soft, damp cloth. You may use a MILD cleaner intended for eyeglasses or computer screens. Harsher chemicals may damage the screen.

I once used alcohol to clean a plastic part on a stereo system and it turned white. alcohol is not mild, so be careful!

Also, make sure the car is off when you do this.

I bought some computer cleaning wipes from office depot.

They come in this lil cannister.. they are small and in fact have just enough wetness to use once.

They do not streak also.. they come with a little shammy cloth to wipe afterwards.

That is what I use.

I am using the joystick more and mmore however now that much of the inititial programming is done.

That is what I was thinking of using. Just a little paranoid about causing a sratch on that surface. I haven't used the joystick a whole lot. But I am getting to where I use the voice options all the time! That is so cool, even if it thinks "Find nearest american restaurant" means "set temperature 72 degrees"

I agree using alcohol is a bad idea. Diluted windex is a good idea, that's what all those eyeglass cleaners are. For my previous tl They gave me a little soft blue rag. I kept it and thats what I use.

As the manual says... Computer screen cleaning stuff, like little "wet ones" type towelettes work great and dont damage the screen,

Get a microfiber cleaning cloth. It will keep the screen clean without cleaning solutions. If you use something else , it should just be a damp cloth. Do NOT spray ANYTHING directly on the screen, spray it on the cloth first.

Caution on Windex, It includes ammonia which can damage the screen.

I use a microfiber cloth.

Ammonia is also a big no-no for the electronics - it can cause the solder joints to corrode.

i use eletrostatic dry cloths like Swiffers and Grab-Its. Just be sure to use the dry ones. They pick up dust like nothing else and are soft enough to rub off fingerprints. I also use them on the dash and doors. They're great.

When I saw the little polishing cloth with my T616, a light went off in my head and I now use it to clean the nav screen in our TSX. My MDX came with a blue cleaning cloth, so now I have to scam one for the TL when it gets here.

Hey, Check out Lenscrafters. Their lens cleaning products work great and are very inexpensive. Also their cloths are lint free and I think they also sell a small microfiber cloth.

I know now why they include that cloth: the T616's screen scratches very easily...

I second the recommendation for the LensCrafters cleaning cloth: it works great and won't scratch the screen.

I bought a lenscrafters microfiber cloth. Only CAD $6 and it has a plastic case. The Sony cloth is pretty small, this one is much bigger and works very well. No fluid needed and you can wash it with soap and water.
