Chrometastic

I got these in today from the chrome shop:

#1 - no flash
#2 - flash
#3 - no flash
#4 - flash

The wing piece that holds the "A" emblem and the V-shaped piece are what I had chromed; I purchased the hood molding already chromed from Acura. I put the hood trim in the third and fourth pictures so that we could get a comparison between the shades of chrome: chrome shop vs. stock chrome. They're really close. I was worried they wouldn't match well at first because Acura calls the chrome for this hood molding "black chrome," and I didn't specify to the chroming shop that I wanted "black chrome." Either way, it came out really well and I'm stoked.

This stuff won't be installed until the 20th because my body shop guy is booked (I'm having a few other things done, too), but I just couldn't wait that long to post pics.

Enjoy!

...and yes, those are legit Jordan Xs...

Nice! It should look good on a WDP, especially if you have chrome rims to match.

Well, yeah...but I'm not super-huge on chrome rims -- they're a little too blingy for my personal taste. That's not to say that all chrome rims look bad, it's just that they're not my preference. Thanks for stealing my thunder, though! jk

I have some other things going on up front that should make this chrome really pop and look good...despite not having chrome rims!

The only piece I got from Acura that was chromed was the hood trim molding. Sorry if that wasn't clear from my original post. In the third and fourth pictures, it's the piece that's on the top (I'm sure you knew that but I'm just clarifying). That comes on the 2007 TL-S and is a direct fit. I have some other stuff happening to the front end and I'm going to have all the work done then. It'll be a looooong week+, I'll tell you that much!

Thanks. The total for the job was $350. It was not cheap! The price breakdown: $250 for the wing piece and $100 for the v-shaped piece; possibly $200/$150. Either way, it was $350 total.

I would have just purchased 2007 TL-S chrome moldings, but from what one of my sources told me, he could not guarantee fitment. I figured I'd be just as well off to chrome the pieces I know would fit. Of course, there will be the issue of tolerance to deal with when they get installed because the chrome adds thickness, but it should only be a few thousandths of an inch and "fudgeable."

Yeah, I don't get that. It only doesn't show up on PCs. On Macs, it shows up just fine. At least that's how it works for me. My Windows machine can't display it, but all my Macs (home laptop, home desktop, work desktop) all display it just fine. I'm not sure what to do about it.

Is it a GIF file? In the properties of your av its says file type Not Available.

Even a polished lip or chrome lip wheel would look good to accent the chrome .. I agree with you .. a full chrome wheel is old school and wayyyyyyyy too blingie ..

Here is a chrome lip wheel on a WDP ( Mine )

The finish on your wheel is the finish that I tend to like the most. That would definitely look good on my car, as it certainly looks good on yours (I also have a WDP by the way). The BBS style rim (if you want to call it that) isn't exactly my taste -- I'm more of a mag style guy -- but I've been dabbling with that style on TireRack.com and I might have to reconsider my stance.

I'll work on my avatar a little later on from my PC and see if I can make it work.

Yes, they are factory OEM pieces that I purchased from Acura. I have the originals (still on my car), and I have these, which are chromed versions of the same pieces.

Nice! So it looks like I'm not the only tree-hugging hippie on the board! yay!

As far as the chrome, I'm kind of trying to get the look that you see on the 2007 TL-S with the full-on chrome grill trim, but with a little flare and my own spin on it. See my other thread to check out what I'm doing to my front end.

I sure as heck hope not! I don't have it installed yet, but when it came in, I opened up my hood and kind of semi-put it up there and it looks like it's a pretty straight fit.

Now go away and quit jinxing me!
