Chrome..??

I'm toying with the idea of removing the TL and Acura badges from the back of the trunk....what do you think??... Personally I don't like the chrome on the vehicle, I know the Acura emblem on the trunk is attached by 2 screws but the other 2 are glued, anyone here has the same feeling about this?..and any pictures...

there were a few member who did this. try a search for "debadged" in the picture sub forum. some say it looks cleaner, but its up to you to decide.

Debadging

I took off the "Acura" and the "TL" emblems the first week I had my car. I have never regretted it and love seeing how symetrical the rear end now looks.

I used a professional heat gun from about 3-4 feet away and let the adhesive tape warm up. Be patient, it is still a pain in the butt. But it shouldn't take more than 5 minutes tops. Just keep twisting and prying gently and they will come off.

**When I first picked up my TL in Oct. of '03 I had people walk by it stop and then look at the rear to figure out what it was. No one ( other than car fanatics) knew. It was kind of cool and added to the feeling of owning a car that no one had. Now I see TL's everywhere, but I consider them family....

Debadging...huh, I never thought about that for the TL since all TL's have the same engine (unless moded out), but even still they're not THAT much faster than stock. But as for the asethetics I do think it looks nice.

I know a lot of people debadge their A4 1.8t's because that engine can be heavily moded out to the extent that their faster than the 2.8/3.0 versions.

Yeah i took off my emblems the next morning after buying my car the night before. It was really easy. In fact i took it in the morning to get the windows tinted and i was looking at the rear of the car, then just grabbed the rear emblems and they popped right off.

another easy way to do this is to use a blow dryer and some fishing line, heat it up a bit then use the fishing line to slide it right between it and the car slides right off

I would be interested in a gun-metal finish. I've seen it on other cars, but not a TL.

I think db252 did this to his badges before he removed them entirely. You might want to PM him for more details.
