Chinese food delivery guy hit my 06

i got a fast & free delivery of damage to my new 06 TL. I spent the afternoon detailing it and later that evening this stupid guy Tboned me right in the back driverside wheel with his front bumper. the quarter panel and side skirt got banged up and some paint chipped off the edge of the rear door from the quarter panel buckeling. the wheel is all chewed up & i have suspension damage. the only good news is that they dont have to take off the whole quarter panel to fix it and they can paint match the damage. this sucks because i take such good care of my car, which i bought, & it's brand new. i picked it up from the dealer 1/17/06 & the accident was on 3/17/06. 2month anniv. the damage from his company(Geico) was est. over $1,250. I was making a left from a main road, and he was making a left from a side streed with blinking red. the police report has him @ fault for failure to yeild or something. my car has been sitting in the driveway waiting to get that check and it will take 1-2 weeks to fix 7 the i have to get the wheel redone. sucks4me

That sucks! I was rear ended a while back in my new TL which was only a month old at the time. I took i into the body shop a week ago and have to pick it up today. They said it is done.
It really sucks they got you in the quarter since now you will probably have body filler on your car unless they replace your quarter and weld the cut points. For $1200 that will not happen. Make sure that the place you get the repair from will give you a lifetime warranty on the new paint and guarantee the filler wont crack over time.
If you live in SoCal, I will let you know how the repair of my car went so you can take it there if they do a good job.

i'm from NY. i bought my car from Rallye Acura and i'll probably get the work done @ rallye's bodyshop. i checked out their lot & they had a lot of smashed up cars like 750's & a Lorinser S class. the repaired cars looked brand new & i think they'll do a perfect job.

Whats with the body filler? sound deadener? i dont think they need to mess with it too much. the guy said he can fix it w/o removing the quarter panel

Body filler aka Bondo. It is used to smooth out damaged body panels that are not replaced so it will look normal (not smashed up) and then painted over. Basically think of it as play dough that gets as hard as a rock after they mold it to the shape of your body panel they are fixing.
Since it looks like it is a small area they have to fix, you will probably get away with only having a few ounces of body filler put on. Since it seems like a good shop, they will pull the dents out as close to the place it was ans fill in the creases to smooth it out. I have seen really good filler jobs that you could not tell had filler used and I have seem some horrendous ones where chunks of filler would fall off the car after a few years because the surface was not properly prepped. You should have no problems since they work on such high end cars.

I felt your pain once. About 6 months into my ownership, a guy in a side mirrorless civic scraped my whole driver's side. My baby was scared from then on. She never felt so violated.

I think he was referring to the Civic with no side mirrors, not the Chinese food delivery guy...

ililil... - sorry to see your car all banged up...I know it doesn't mean much, but the damage is minimal and at least the other guy's insurance it paying for it. Good luck with getting it fixed.
