Checked out old street scene, very interesting

I haven't been to the local scene in a long while so I decided to go for a late night drive and check it out.

Man things have changed! Top cars I saw were the STI, 5Liter Mustangs and 4.6 Mustangs, Turbo-Neon and Mitsibishi Eclipse. Most were just the usual Civic's with neon lights and huge wings with cannons under the rear bumper. To each his own I guess, it was cool to see so many in one place and nobody being aholes.

What shocked me was the reaction to my TL, a few thumbs up and a guy who said holy crap whats that? Made me feel good, I was sure I'd get the who's the old guy look.

All in all it was fun, can't wait until spring!

Nobody seemed interested in racing, the guys in the Suburu's generally walked around as if they couldn't be beat by anything o hung around other guys in STI's. I miss my Chevelle, anyway nobody was racing and since I didn't know any of them I'm sure they would be suspicious of me, I wouldn't blame them, the police plant guys into the scene these days to keep tabs on the kids.

I may go back next week if it's nice and see if I can land a race with something that would be a good race for the 5AT TL.

actually, they may mod the same car, but each individual car is different, with different mods. therefore, saying they're a bunch of clones is an ignorant statement

digital_b,

The street racing scene is something a lot of guys get into when they're young. While I don't say it's right it's a fact of life and when I was young I participated. There was a much higher number of various cars back then that guys modified, most of which modifications you couldn't see because back then what mattered was who was the fastest.

The real street scene is nothing like the movie "Fast and Furious" which kids today try to emulate as much as they can judging by the crap they tack onto anything that moves and their attitudes.

If you think the street scene blows then I guess it isn't for you. Some may say that people who tint their windows and add wood kits and lower grill fog lights blow and are clones of others who do the same thing, how would that make you feel? Just because you don't hang with the kids in the street doesn't mean you aren't doing some of the same things.

I agree the street scene is nice something to do for me when i was young. Group of friends meeting new one's and making new enemies at the same time foolish things we do when we where young. But that scene will always be there like other things in life.

While I don't agree they are clones, I can't stand the ones that put a muffler & chrome hub caps on a civic and think they are racers.

Its my opinion that it all boils down to pride of ownership. I think its great for people to get together and talk cars and show them off. Just like my dad did when he was younger. I am now a dad and have a wife and 2.5 kids and dont see anything wrong with people getting together and talking about the things they cherish. As long as it doesnt effect others.

I would much rather young'ns be doing that then getting into gangs, drugs, and other criminal acts. IMHO

I remember the street scene......

Now, I'm afraid to go there - will realize just how old I am. Besides, they'll probably panic and think that I'm just some kids pissed off old man.
