You may or may not recall me, but I had a 04' Red TL for a few months that i turned around and traded in.

Out of curiousity I went and checked the dealers site to see if they had it listed yet to sell, and it is.

You think they are going to get what they are asking???

Well, MSRP was $32,650, and add the protection package, so their price of $32,995 seems reasonable to me.

And with 24,715 miles it is just about broken in so the next buyer doesn't have to wait 600 miles to see what it will do. That ought to be worth something.

They very well could get what they are asking for on this car depending on the buyer. I know that I wouldn't pay what they are asking for. I refuse to pay sticker for a car.

There is NO way they're going to get retail for a used car unless the buyer is a total moron.
I'd say they've got BALLS just for asking so much. Can I ask how much they gave you on the trade?

Keep in mind the used car market and pricing is very subjective. Used car dealers typically realize higher profits on used inventory.

That is their listed sales price. Likely no used car sells at the listed price. It is the game where the dealer can sell it at thousands less than the listed price and make it look like they are dealing (we all know how altruistic car dealers are...). It's all smoke and mirrors. Also, to some degree, overpricing the car projects an image to potential buys that this is a sought after vehicle / model. Pricing too thrifty could scare away potential buyers who may wonder 'what is wrong with it?'. If someone shows interest in an overpriced car..the dealer smells them (ooops...'qualifies the serious intent') and you are a worm on a hook.

What I detest most about used car dealers is that they will poo poo you for wanting to deal down a clean vehicle they have over inflated the price on. The same neanderthal will tell you your pristine trade is not even worth wholesale blue book value in 'fair' condition.

Bottom line. Determine what you like. Determine a range you feel is satisfactory to pay (based on your research in your market). Make a grown up decision (like we men are ever that way with cars). Make the deal YOU can sleep with. Don't fuss over who got $50 bucks more off than you. After the fact you are just torturing yourself. Close the deal, enjoy the car and pray we can move away from this reptilian method of auto sales.
