So, just recently, I floored the car on an empty highway and i held it there for a few seconds and then all of a sudden, the check engine light came on and stayed on...once i slowed down and then after a minute, it went away....is this common? in my other car, 2002 maxima, i have floored it before and i have never seen a check engine sign...

this has happened quite a few times...i don't floor my car regularly....very rarely do i floor it...car has about 12000 miles on it...when i floor the car, i want it to speed without a problem....btw, flooring stops at max 100 miles per hour...i don't wish to speed above that...please keep in mind that this is probably once in a few months or so that i floor the car...could someone please provide their input on this? thanks...

take it to the dealer. it sounds like you need the ecu reflashed. i just had one come in with the same symptons. it took me 15 min to reprogram the ecu.

 

I haven't had that problem. Then again, I have an average speed of 26mph right now.
