I'm at 120k, so I'll be ordering this sometime before this offer expires. Is the 2nd link/option everything I need for my 105k? What is the tensioner and do I really need it?

Thanks!

Approaching 88k, I want.

What is the advantage to purchasing the tensioner as well? I'm sure it's recommended but is it necessary?

Absolutely! The tensioner helps keep the belt taught throughout its life. Almost all the hydraulic tensioners are found to be leaking by the time you get to the 105K mark. That's why EVERY SHOP recommends replacing it along with the belt. You're getting all OEM parts here, so don't be a penny pincher when it comes to internal intregal moving engine parts!

Your MID should also tell you when it's needed. If you're at 118kms, then you have a looooong way to go. But it should also be for 7 years (I believe). Whichever comes first.

Just purchased an 04' TL (AT/Navi) last with with 112K miles and the previous owner hadn't done the 105K service yet, and I'm definitely wanting to buy this kit. Assuming I'll need the kit with the tensioner? I'm taking it to our on-base certified mechanics here at Ramstein AB Germany, and they're very experienced with Hondas/Acuras, but I'm just wanting to make sure that I don't want the kit without the tensioner.

please pardon my ignorance but is there anything else i need to purchase for my 120k service?

the kit includes:
Timing Belt, Water Pump, Accessory Belt and Tensioner

is the accessory belt the same as the a/s p/s belt? would you guys recommend replacing the thermostat or anything else at all?

^ yes, accessory belt is the same one that drives the p/s pump etc.

There are a few pulleys also involved with the timing belt, the idler pulley and the tensioner pulley--replace those too. Someone correct me if i'm mistaken.

Might as well also replace the thermostat since you'll need to burp the system and replace the coolant from the water pump replacement anyway.

hey rob, is there any chance that you would be willing to hook up those of us who bought this kit with a deal for a thermostat+idler pulley package? just a thought...

Would you mind listing the part numbers for the parts included in the kit? Thanks.

Hey guys,

Just a side note that if you are looking for additional parts, please let me know what year and trim level your TL is. Different years can have different part number.

Thanks!

Hi Jeff,

Would you mind posting the parts list (for your kit) for an 07 TL Type-S AT? I'm planning to have the dealer perform the service (and I'll just bring in the parts) so I just want to make sure everything matches. Thanks.

the gates kit comes with an "idler" and "tensioner" pulley. I believe that's why there's "2" tensioners listed.

I would rather get the gates kit, tbh since it has more of what you need for a TB job (2 pulleys that interact directly with the TB). I can always do the acc belt another time.

Since you're in Lancaster, PA, it would make more sense to just take your car to Hamilton Honda in Hamilton,NJ and get the whole job done for UNDER $500 OUT THE DOOR including the water pump, timing belt, serpentine (main drive) belt, hydraulic tensioner, new antifreeze, labor, and tax - done by EXPERIENCED Acura/Honda mechanics using only OEM parts.

Do a search here on Hamilton Honda. You might just be surprised.

I drove the hour and 40 minutes each way to get this deal, so you should definitely consider it.
And so should everyone else who lives in the Northeast!

I'm at 90600 and I live in the Wash DC area, but I fully intend to get my 105K service done at Hamilton Honda, which I expect to be around Spring/Summer 2013.
