Changing the leather in the steering wheel, is it possible?

Hi gang, I've had two loaners while having my car serviced in the past, 2010 TL and a 2010 TSX and I LOVED the leather they used on the steering wheel and also the thickness of it.

So my question, do you guys know of anyone that has done this Mod? I would love to have that matte, soft, non-slip leather wrapped around my 07 Type-S. I live in Central NJ so any place (if any exists) that does this in my area (also NYC, or PA), please let me know. Thanks

I think you would have to order "or figure out" what that matte is.

Than any upholstery shop "Most" will do it.

You might want to look into www.dallassteeringwheel.com. You take your wheel off, send it to them, and it's supposed to be a 2 day turnaround.

I just got an email from Don, the one that I saw on his site (perforated leather) was quoted at $299, plus $30 for the xtra padding and $17 shipping (total $346). Its a little bit more than I was hoping to spend, but I will see how much is the other one which has 1/2 perforated and 1/2 solid leather. Thanks ERDoC for the link, they seem to have great quality products.

Also, did you take the SW yourself? I am mechanically handicaped, so it you were to rate the difficulty of taking out the SW and then putting it back, what would it be?

I haven't taken my wheel off in the past- there are links on this site as to the DIY of removal- it looks pretty easy, but the most critical part is proper removal of the airbag so it doesn't blow. My brother is planning on using Dallas SW in the near future for his car. If you have significant reservations about wheel removal, you might want to get a spare SW (from a member here or on eBay), get it covered, then get someone (unfortunately, even the dealership) to do the swap- this way, your car isn't disabled with no wheel while the other one is being covered- then you can eBay your old wheel.

I'm actually a big fan of wheelskins and have one in the TL and my MR2- soem people like to have the wheel look totally factory though. Wheelskins to me are a great product at little cost.
