Changing Auto Trans Fluid?

What is the recommendation interval for changing the automatic transmission fluid? I've seen in various posts that people drain what can be readily drained (approx 1/3 of capacity) at given intervals, thus eventually changing out all the trans fluid. Is this a good practice? I'm curious because someone told me that the Acura trans doesn't have a filter. Is this true? Thanks. Steve

There is no filter. Interval depends on individual situations and preferences. The MID won't tell you to change it until about 60,000 miles, which is way too long IMO.

Many people here say 30,000 is a good time to do the change. Some do at 20,000 and some do later. I did mine at 20,000 because I don't drive too much, and what I got out of the pan was dark brown and thick, so I took it to my dealer and, after a long discussion and a visit with the Acura service rep, they gave me a courtesy triple change.

If your fluid is still nice and pink you can do the single drain and fill, which takes 3 quarts, but if you really want to be safe you can do the triple, which is drain and fill, drive the car about 5 miles, and repeat this twice.

Where can I buy the fluid cheap? I have an A1:2 service due now and I have trouble looking up what goes on with that service. Need 4 characters to search, can't find it in the 3G garage too and fluid is not listed in acuraparts247.com
