Changes for '05

Has anyone read or heard of any changes being done for the MY 05 TL. I was curious as the whether or not they were going to offer the upgraded brakes on the 5at or increased HP??

Doubtful. We definitely won't know until the RL comes out. Look for more info on the '05 TL around May or June.

And maybe if Acura got smart, auto-leveling headlights, a stereo that automatically detects and plays MP3's, and an optional backup camera like on the MDX and Honda Pilot. And oh yes, the same turn signal mirrors as the TSX.

What vtechbrain said plus possible turn signals on mirror IF they were trying to do this for '04 and didn't get it done in time (first cars out had this on the sticker if you recall and there were some discussion on whether this was typo or not).

I don't get the MP3 requirement. I mean, 99% of all the TL buyers (not 99% of the people here) could care less. Me included. Give me AWD and a sport suspension from the factory so we don't have to buy the same parts twice (i.e. A-Spec). Then put a 3.5 liter engine in it with the rest of the specs (compression ratio, etc) the same. Also, make the navi standard.

Where do you get your information that 99% of the TL buyers could care less about MP3 support?

I agree it would be nice to have, either with a HD in the trunk along with the nav system where you could donwload MP3's to it and play from there, or just a way to plug in an external device, like an iPod, to the stereo unit (and have it interface with the display).

As for colors, I don't need every color under the rainbow, but just offer less restrictive color comobs with what they do provide. Like White/Ebony, Green/Ebony.

I'd like to see them extend the memory settings to include the steering wheel and (possibly) rear mirror.

AWD...definitely.

And ditch the Bridgestones and just put the Michelins that belong on the car in the first place.

Spoke to my dealer yesterday and Acura is forecasting to be completely sold out of TL's well before the '05's are in production. Just like the Honda Odyssey's unexpected explosive demand, the TL isn't going to see anything change at all- they're just going to start re-numbering the existing cars. (He intimated that assorted quality bugs would of course be fixed, but no major features would be added).

Hey Acura . . . are you listening ?

I vote for maroon as a new color. Also, I would like to have
a split rear seat. This really does make the car so much more
functional for those of us living in the real world.

Um...I think the thread is about if anyone had "read or heard of any changes being done for the MY 05 TL". I think a wish list at this point would be premature, don't get your hopes up too high for '05.

Give me MP3. 99.99999999999999999999999% could care less about that tape deck. my 1997 grand prix that i just sold did not even have a tape deck.
AWD- that would be awesome. No chance next year.

I want to know how the hell Acura is going to put AWD in a car that has zero tunnel between the rear footwells.

Unless they go hybrid like the RL...

I would have to say the dealer was feeding you a line. I believe these cars are made in the USA so I don't know why they would just stop making them. He probably was telling you that so you would pay the full price, due to limited production

gendronj: He didn't say they were going to stop making them, just that their production is already at max into the August/September timeframe when Acura would normally make the transition. If you think about it, an order placed today by dealer x would hit the factory tomorrow but would deliver as a 2005 model. Therefore, the 2005 would be the same as the 2004 as they're not going to stop the line to add features and they're not going to stop the line to sell down on the 2004 models. They're going to continue to manufacture the existing TL and just switch the serial numbers on the date that the rest of the '05 Acura's roll out.
