Changes from '04 to '08

Hey Guys.

I could not find from searching so decided to post a new thread.

I used to own a 04 TL auto w/navi and sold it a year ago. I'm thinking about getting a 08 TL auto w/navi and was wondering what changes have been made to the 07-08 TL's. I got a lot of good information from this forum and did transmission sensor change/fluid change and was wondering if 08 would have the same potential transmission issue.

I can tell there have been changes made to exterior and gauges but I'm not sure what other changes were made.

Any inputs would be appreciated.

07-08 TL using a modified version of RL so yes its better than 04-06 AT, beside that 07-08 get Aux port, CD player is playable WMA/MP3 format, the suspension is softer than 04-06, the Navi is different than 04-06 other than that most of thing you already mention above.

Rear backup camera, new key, and obviously all the exterior and interior changes. Well worth all the changes IMO!

the new key is a big one IMO, even a 2003 honda accord started having the buttons integrated on the keyfob, but the TL didn't get it until 2007!(but when it did, it got an awesome switchblade lol)

Thank you all for the replies. I love this community with great people!

The owner stated the car has been serviced mostly at the dealership according to recommended schedule. Is there any way to get a copy service records from the dealership? It has 87k miles so I'd like to check the service records.

I'll try to take a look at it this weekend and see if I can work out a deal with the owner. I regretted selling my TL and getting an RX330. I wanted to see if I like driving an SUV but it is not fun at all driving the RX compared to TL!

You can give the service dept the Vin, and see what services have been performed...Also a Carfax is a good idea

Agreed, CarFax is a good option, although don't rely on it completely. Ask the owner if he has kept service receipts, since, if he religiously maintains the car, he probably is well organized with keeping the receipts.

My dad used to have an RX330 and I learned to drive on that car. It's a nice vehicle, but I wouldn't give up the sporty feel of my TL for a lousy SUV. Plus, I hate hauling people & their crap around

I just looked at the carfax for the service info and called the dealers/mechanics that performed the work and asked them to mail me the records of the exact services performed. All they had to do was remove any personal information about the previous owner that printed out with the records and now I have a complete service history for my 08 tl. Worth the phone calls IMO. It's good that you'll be able to talk to the owner and ask him the places he took the car so that if he doesn't have all the records you know the service place will

The wiki page does a good job of outlining all the differences from one year to the other:
