You can get the Fresh Breeze for $14 from Rock Auto with activated charcoal and baking soda. I've had one in my car for over a year and it works well.

About the CAI filter, that's why I say the filter should always be kept in the engine bay. There is zero benefit to putting it outside of the engine bay and a ton of downsides.

What? Zero benefit? I could see calling it small, but zero?

Especially with how bad the heat soak / trapped air is in the 3G TL...

All that matters is where the air is drawn in from. You can have a tube where the filter is and put the filter in the engine bay and the air will be just as cool and the restriction the same. The filter should never be directly exposed to the elements, especially one that filters worse than stock. The filter should be protected. The filter being outside of the engine bay is a fad. They're made that way because they have to. People believe that's the way a CAI should be built and sales would likely suffer if they were built any other way.

There was a design probably about 10 years ago where the enclosed cone filter stayed in the engine bay and a large diameter tube pulled in the air. Pretty good design but I guess it didn't sell.

I actually have an old Kenne-Bell CAI with a 6" feed and the K&N under the hood enclosed in a fiberglass container. It wasn't a real tight fit so dirt and water would not accumulate in the canister. It was a great design IMO.

This one you speak of, was it for the TL?

changed mine out a week ago. Bought my car with 62K miles and doubt it was ever changed by previous owner as it was BLACK. Something so easy and cheap to do yet alot of people never even think to swap it out!
That's why I methodically change out all the fluids too. Never know what they did/didn't do!
