Talking Cars that 2nd gens should be able to take

Title should be self explanitory. Just post names of cars that a 2nd gen TL should be able to take. Be sure to list if it is a TL-s or a Tl-p

i think it can keep up wit dodge ram srt *viper engine* cuz my cousin 1993 civic si hatchback lost to 1 and half car lenght so maybe the TL-p might be able to keep up.

So far I've killed 325 series bimmer (they're dogs), older infiniti q45 (4.5L V8, but age has played a toll on them), mazda millenia S (210hp, raced from a dig), and some fat trashy lookin bitch driving an unmodded TL-P on the highway.

2002 TL-P

The last 3 cars my brother-in-law bought were purchased to beat me. He wasn't successful with the first two, but the latest is an 03 Type-S. While my sister doesn't want him to race me in "her" car, I know it's inevitable and just a matter of when I go back to the States, haha. I'll let you know the results when that happens. Seems to be a good race, though, as my grinding wheel bearing and shitty tires are slowing me down...

~Cheers~

the 330ci almost killed my TL-s with mods. those things are quick. 230 whp with like 230 torque. Killed me off the line and I started pulling at high end.

i meant 230 hp to the crank. they have like 200 WHP stock. thats pretty much even with the TL. I'm suprised he didn't beat me. But I did launch my car and he didn't. i had a shit load of wheel spin. I think they have 190 torque to the wheels.

dude who cares about the numbers. all dynos are different. it doesnt produce an exact number stock. a 330ci with minor mods are more than capable to beat a TL although we have 260 to the crank and 230 torque. acura automatics ftw..

BMW autos aren't any different, theres a pretty big difference between the MT and AT. The 330 ci in manual can hit 60 in 6.2 vs. the AT, which takes 6.8. Pretty similar to the TL...although the 2nd gen didn't have a 6MT. With intake, headers, and exhaust, i still think the TL would walk the 330 with similar mods.

^ it's too bad Honda, unlike other makers, does not get other companies (Getrag, Aisin, etc) to design their gearboxes. But they have certainly been improving, ie, the 3rd gen TL AT actually gets 10 extra whp than 2nd gen TL-S (210whp vs 200whp, according to TOV testing).

Even though the 3rd gen has more WHP. The 2nd gen is still able to beat the 3rd gen TL non type s if it was AUTO vs AUTO. manual then its a different story.

that would be a jaw dropper to an unsuspecting Tl driver LOL. now when you say this do you mean the 2nd gen TL-s can beat the 3g 5at? or the tl-p can beat the 3g 5at?

2nd gen TL-S can beat a 3rd gen TL-P stock for stock. The 2nd gen TL-S is lighter than the 3rd gen. Well I raced my friend 3rd gen TL-P stock vs my 2nd gen TL-S with CAI. on a roll I beat him by 1 CL. then he raced my friends 330ci, he got beat also.

Thats not true, I beat my friends 2002? TL type-S from a dig, and at the time, my car was bone stock and he had an intake. I wish I could setup another race but he sold it for an evo 9

It's interesting to know that the the 3rd gen does have 10 extra whp stock compared to the 2nd gen TL-S, I just learned about that like..last week when I saw one of TOV's test. But that's not too surprising since Honda afterall did claim an extra 10hp gain (270 vs 260).

A stock 2g TL-S will pretty much beat most stock FWD vehicles.

However, they will get killed by lightweight FWD vehicles hitting 200 bhp - think RSX-S, Civic Si, etc., due to the HP/weight ratio.

As for a 2nd Gen TL-S against an auto 3rd Gen TL (non S), stock for stock, it should be pretty even.

Against RWD vehicles, we will lose to most RWD vehicles with similar or more HP as the TL.

Any RWD vehicle shy of 240 hp is fair game from a roll; think IS300s, IS250s, BMW 328, even stock S2000s will fall prey to the 2g TL-s.

2007 TL Curb Weight: 3636 Lbs. Base HP: 258 (under the new corrected SAE reqs)

2002 TL-S Curb Weight: 3538 Lbs. Base HP: 260 (prior to the new corrected SAE reqs - most likely closer to 250 HP.)

While the 3rd Gen TL does weigh more than the 2nd Gen TL-S, its important to note that the 3rd Gen TL HP rating of 258 is far more accurate than the 2nd Gen TL-S HP rating of 260. If I had to guess, the 2nd Gen TL-S HP rating under the corrected SAE is probably around 250.

Basically, a 2nd Gen TL-S and 3rd Gen TL stock are pretty much the same in terms of performance.

However, currently modifications in the 2nd Gen TL-S are far more volatile in raising HP numbers due to the ability to get aftermarket headers. The 3rd gen TL has welded headers, and thus cannot be replaced with aftermarket headers.

2nd Gen TL-S versus a 3rd Gen TL manual - I give the edge to the 3rd Gen manual since less HP is lost through the manual gearbox.

LOL @ the C55

And if one person is running on 19s and the other is on stock 17s its pretty much a done deal when the specs are that close together. My car feels like it has ankle weights with my 19s

I have 19 Racing Hart CR Multi Pieces on my car, and they're freaking heavy. I have all bolt ons except the charger, and I know for a fact that I'll get beat by another 2nd Gen with the same bolt ons running on stockies.

You know, I've always considered the 3rd Gen TL to be pretty much a 2nd Gen TL-S performance wise. And even if the 2nd Gen TL-S beat the 3rd Gen Auto TL, it would be less than by half a cars length; and vice versa, if the 3g Auto TL beats a 2g TL-S it'll be by less than half a cars length.

Its like arguing one snail is going to beat another snail. TLs in general are decently quick, but pretty far from neck breaking fast.

LMAO @ C55 wanting to run me... I hope he knows that I already know he will murder me.. but I'm down.. And not great highway.. How about we meet up 1/2 way? i might have to put my stockies back on for this.

I agree that 2nd gen tl-s and 3rd gen base auto is like even, but supposedly the 2nd gen TL-S is faster, from what I have read on the forums.. iono if it's true, but i hope we'll find out soon enough.

whats a difference between a stock evo 8 and stock evo 9? they both run in the 13s against a TL that runs 14s. well the guy in the c55 just wanted to show his forum how bad he will beat a TL. I Just remembered u said u almost beat a evo. I dont know how modded he is but he got some volks and can beat my 335.

TL vs. an Evo....don't even bother....Same with the C55 AMG....what in the world, who comes up with this besides twinturbo335 lol. I think both of those cars will even make "your" 335 look like its standing still.

My friends lightly modded Evo8 pulled like 2 cars on my friends dads 335 when he took it out one night. I think we have it on video...i'll try to look it up.

I wanna see the 2G vs 3G...and thats about it. I know when I raced one, I beat it, so i'd like to see how this plays out.

haha.. ill be racing the c55 sometimes next month against my 335. anyways you can go look on youtube against evo vs 335. its pretty much a driver race stock for stock. the 335 will beat it on a roll but the evo has a better chance winning from a dig

evo arent that fast on a roll. I wouldnt be suprised if a heavily modded 6mt CL-S could beat it. but from dig, dont even bother. looking at the mods what acuratl has. Basically the same setup as me on my TL. I wouldn't stand a chance against a evo or anything in that league.
