Carmax Cars
Hi Y'all I have a 2008 Base TL and I am about to part ways with it. I have WDP and i cant stand the color mismatch bumpers :-( And I feel like my car is ugly. There is a difference between the 07-08 TL's with the 2005 TL's and the 07-08 model has nicer tailights but the 2005 TL has a nicer front. The changes to the front are small but it makes a huge difference. For example the ACura Emblem is a little bigger on the grill for the 07-08's and I could care less for the foglights cuz the HID's over power them. I tried many things to try to fall back in love with my TL, like a car wash cuz WDP clean is VERY NICE!!! Honestly, I feel like my TL does not look like the TL's in this website. I feel like i have a bootleg TL and thats why my car doesnt look "right" or it could be juss because its Base TL. Or u guys could be doing a lot of camera tricks and photo shop to make ur cars look good LOL.
Anyways, Im thinking about upgrading to a 2009 RL since I saw one available at carmax.com. The Price is like a 4th gen TL so I dont feel bad cuz i would def. NEVER EVER by an RL for 50k+ thats so WRONG. Has anyone bought there TL's at carmax? I feel bad cuz the TL i currently have is acura certified and im wondering how important is that?
and if u must kno, i am not spoiled, my parents are not buying this for me. and I also bought the TL i have right now with my own hard earned money.
I feel bad about buying a new car within a 2 year period but i feel like the RL will be my 10+ year car because I have seen the future of cars, and they are ugly. I just saw the Lexus CT200h and that is ugly but nice inside. THe audi A8 is ugly too fancy and not sporty= for old ppl. The New 4th gen TL is ugly. The BMW 7 series and 5 series is UGLY, nasty tailights.

i know. i am aware that technology is constantly advancing and there will always be something faster, nicer, better, than what u currently have (cell phones, cars, laptops, cars, TVs) and u cant keep up with technology bc u will end up with no money. and i almost feel like making an anology to marriage. my hat goes off to all the married ppl who are still going strong. i can totally see why commitments are hard to keep and why cheating and divorce happen. ppl run into other ppl who are "fast, nicer, better" than their current partner so to speak. and its up to the person to stop "nitpicking" and juss be happy with what you got.
for this reason, i am not attending this years car show in feb. b/c i dont want to be tempted to buy another car.
oh an kudos to anyone who drive a car with 100,000 miles + on the odometer. I wish i was committed like you!

but, if you're deadset on trading it in...carmax is fine. i've got a few friends who work there and they're legit just like any other dealership.
my
? keep your TL and enjoy it. make it yours.
Post pics of your ride and I'm sure we will be able to help to get your car the way you want it. BTW if you do decide to start modding, it will never end and your wallet will never be full but you will be happy with your car.
After about 2 "cuz" and a "kno" or two I lost interest......
But up until that point it sounded very young.
Carmax cars that have been purchased by folks I know have been in excellent shape, but they paid a premium for it. Of course, their purchase reasoning made a little more sense......

I bought my first TL from Carmax, and they stood behind what they sold cause the joker that had it before m e goobered up some crap on it. I have bought a couple cars from them in fact all be a very pleasant experience. I have also sold a couple cars to them to in fact last week I sold the PT to them.
I'm going to say this once and once only due to a bad experience with carmax, but dont buy from CARMAX!
I originally got a TSX which was from carmax, but I decided to return. Reason being, the bastards put way to high of an interest rate. 10% interest rate with my perfect credit is not acceptable. And there was no way of talking them out of that, even though my credit is over 800 points.
OP, you're better off buying a car from someone or another dealership, unless your carmax will give you a better interest rate than the 10% they gave me. Sure they have quality cars, but you can get a quality car anywhere else.

1. You can get financed with whoever you decide you want to borrow money from. It doesn't have to be from carmax.
2. You knew the interest rate when you signed, I don't blame them for not taking the car back.
3. You are 21 years old and do not have over an 800 credit score, and YES, I know what I'm talking about when it comes to credit.
Other than that, I've found Carmax legit to deal with although I feel they do lowball offers on taking your car, but of course they are there to take some money off the table.
About your reasons for trading the car...I kinda get like that too...never happy, always looking for the next best thing. It's your money and your perogative but I promise you, you will be in this same boat with the RL in a few months from now (or a year or 2). Gotta teach yourself to appreciate what you got...no other way around it. Spend the money you were about to throw away on the taxes for the RL on something for you car...lower it, or wheels, or have the bumpers painted to match better.
Just think, to someone else...your TL is THEIR RL or their dream car, know what I mean!?!

Hey, thanks man...I take that as a compliment, especially from you!
PS...didn't mean to come across as snooty, but I just found the facts thrown around in that post to SEEM misleading. I'm not authority on anything with credit but I built my credit early and I built my credit well and I only managed a 770 and I'm 32 years old. The only people over 800, in my experience, are people that have my credit history for a LONNNNNGGGG time.
J.
Justnspace...I'm gonna say 615? Close?
Haha...let's not talk about what my score looks like right now since I'm finally playing scumbag hardball with Bank of America to see if they'll help a brotha out of a bad mortgage

Sorry to break the news to you, but I do indeed have a credit score over 800. I'll say this, being a business man with a lot of investments in my young age has led me to such credit. You have to be smart in this world in order to achieve such things.
Now, the carmax I went to said they wouldn't finance with anyone else but themselves. Yes, I felt it fishy of them to say such things, but of course its my money and decided to pull back out of the contract as soon as I could. I signed simply to take the car for a joyride meanwhile I looked for the better. Like I said, smarts.
I'm not a business man nor do I quite have an 800 credit score, but I sure as hell know better than to sign a 10% loan.

I'm trying to understand how someone with a vast enough credit experience to earn an 800+ credit score could possibly be so naive to sign a loan for 10%...
Also trying to understand how someone with your vast business and investment experience or as smart as you claim to be would ever sign a loan for 10%.... How is that being "smart in this world" (your own words) ?

Now, CARMAX was naive enough to fall for my lies when I returned the car. I told them I didn't want the car, that it was too small for me, so I set up another date to get another car with them an never returned. Its only business.
Like I said, I took the car to USE it, in order to find another car. I knew the final date that I had to be able to return the car. I have no other means of transportation, so I simply used the car for that reason.

I can't stand people like you, and am very glad I only have to suffer through your occasional forum anthrax.
I actually had no idea you were also the

from the other day. Figures though......
Nice to see that other folks on here have the same high opinion of you.
That is not business, that is lack of character. Not only are you fine with that, you seem proud of it.

all I gotta say is maybe your credit score wasn't as high as you thought it was. Why would they give you such a high interest rate if your credit score is that good? I can tell you now my credit score probably isn't that high, not because I messed it up just because I'm young and I bought my TL and got NOWHERE near 10%

I went elsewhere and got 4.9%, which is right. Carmax was trying to blow smoke up my ass.
If you look at other cars-you will notice on many of them (depending on what color) the bumpers look like they are a different color than the rest of the car. It is too bad you bought the car in the first place since you seem not to have liked it. If you decide to sell it please take your time with choosing your next car. I love my 06 tsx with almost 120,000 problem free miles.
Is this thread a joke?
Some teenager wants to trade in his TL for an older TL, or a brand new RL (cognitive dissonance, anyone?). And then we have some savvy businessman who has accrued an 800 credit score, countless good investments, and still signed the paperwork on a 10% interest car loan without realizing that it was a bad rate?
el-oh-friggen-el.

no, i assure you that wasn't OP's original intent. while the topic is laughable to some, the guy just wanted some advice/guidance on what to do...but after the 10th post, this thread got buried with bs. some people have a hard time keeping things on topic.
Wait, so you want to get rid of a car because the paint on the bumpers don't perfectly match? Seriously?
Nothing in life is perfect, no matter how much money you blow, so just live with it. There's plenty of shit wrong with my car but I'm not willing to lose money over it

I think i am realli attracted to the "rare" factor cuz u see a lot of TL's in the street and I wanna be the only 2009+ RL in the street. I'm buying now cuz i juss saw the 2011 RL and i dont like the Grill change at all nor do i like the rims (but u can change that). and im 100% positive that the 2012 RL will not be a V6, so i dont want to be a gas guzzler.
and you are sooo right. I will take my time choosing my next car because I didnt even test drive the TL when i bought it, i trusted the fact that it was acura's #1 selling sedan. I did no research,no nothing, #1 selling sedan was all the convincing i needed, which is prolly why I overlooked the mismatched bumper issue.

WHen u mention the word "perfect" i started to think about ppl who spent 1000$+ on plastic surgery(lypo suction) to feel good about themselves. In a sense, thats kinda what im doing. I see "imprefection/mismatched bumper/fat" so im spending money to fix it.
Oh the RL is the one for me because how can i complain when I have the best of the best from Acura??? And if i do start to nit pick again about the RL, then I can confirm that "money CANNOT buy happiness" is a true saying. But then again, when u have reached the top there's only one way to go, and thats down...uh oh!

I know i am losing a lot of money cuz of this...but i cant feel bad because it is my money. Im not taking out a loan or selling a bunch of my personal stuff to fund this "imperfection" I believe a person should work hard to get what they want and I have done that.
