Careless BIATCH hits the TL in NYC (PICS)

This is depressing, just waxed the car and this happens. Dumb, young broad from Georgia can't drive in the city and hits me. After letting me pass, she decides to hit me, then claims she didn't see me, unreal. Anyway, what type of repairs will this need? New sheet metal/parts or just a dent repair. Basically I have no idea. How serious is this, estimate, and type of repairs. Thanks in advance.

A good body shop should be able to straighten out the dents and repaint. I can't tell the color of your car from the picture, but if it is WDP it will cost a little more than SSM. My uneducated guess would be around $300.

I know it is Saturday and you won't be able to get an estimate until Monday, so try and stay calm. The repair should be easy for them and you probably won't even know it was damaged when they get done.

Sorry to see that, and good luck on your repair job.

Thanks for the reply. The color is WDP. It is a blend that the repair shop will do? If so, will it still have that glitter look, lol. Funny how you pointed out the 'stay calm' part. (ever happened to you?) That's the hardest part, going nuts here.

WDP is very expensive because they have to put the pearl coat after the white paint, and they have to do the whole area because they can't blend it in. I have WDP, and a little dent on my front bumper is going to cost $500, but that includes the labor to remove the bumper and the extra cost for the WDP paint. I am not getting it fixed yet for that price but I had to learn to stay calm when I first saw what someone had done in Lowe's parking lot, which I didn't discover until I got home.

I can't definitely tell from the pictures, but it doesn't look bad enough to require removal. They should be able to bang out the dents with their special body shop tools.

If it wasn't for the small amount of paint damage, you probably could have gotten by with Paintless Dent Repair, but this will require repainting unless those small black areas are paint smudges from the other car.

Best thing is to quit worrying and take it in Monday and they will answer all your questions from experience and with the car right in front of them.

Mazda RX8. Believe it or not, her damage was much worse. Her bumper was out of place with a HUGE dent next to the headlight.

Yeah, that's paint damage. And yeah, the stress bothers, lol. Hade a C230 coupe and it happened a couple times. Didn't bother me as much as now because this TL is not a C230 coupe, if you know what I mean, lol.

ouch... sorry to hear about your bad luck. like Ron said, stay calm and (i know it's hard) try not to think about it too much. the damage doesn't look too bad, so you'll probably have it repaired within a week or so... and since your paint is WDP, and the "careless biatch" is paying, i'd go with an Acura bodyshop, or acura recommended bodyshop, since they may be better at matching the paint. if you were nearby, i'd buy you a 6 pack to ease your pain.

She denied fault when the police arrived, and because she was fine as hell and used the vulnerable/'I'm so sexy'/'you might have a chance' approach with the dirty NYC cops, I think the report was in her favor. After it was over, they sat and ate lunch with the biatch. We'll see what happens. Any advice?

I don't care if she was Salma Hayek, I wanted to run her over with my car. Imagine your car getting hit.

i have a door ding on my rear fender and it was in an area that the body shop couldnt pop it out w/o doing some paint work. i was told that if i didnt worry about the paint one of those painless dent places could get it out...500 bucks otherwise and the dent is the size of a dime.

Custom cut 3M Fender well trims like this would limit that type of damage. They've already saved me a trip to the body shop and they're a hell of a lot cheaper to replace than doing a fender refinish.

^looking at the original pic/damage, it wouldn't have mattered if you had the fender protector like yours or not. the protector would prevent only light scratches and maybe doors & carts hitting it, imo. MoeMZA's car's clearly dented in...

That's almost the same place I got hit. Doesnt look too bad, just a bit bent. Did the paint actually chip off? or is that paint from the other car?

If you can buffer that thing out, it shouldn't cost that much to fix.

Mine came out to $400.

Oh say can you see them?

Every TL owner whose seen them 1st hand so far commends me for them and a couple have already followed my lead. It may not completely prevent all such damage, but I guarantee that in the case of the starter of this thread, it would have definitely reduced the amount of fender damage.

Got 'the word' from a couple off-duty cops today. Amazingly they both said because she was young and good-looking, it's my fault, lol.

OMG...I'd rather have the dent than those ugly things on my car. Each to his own, but I think they're ugly.

being from ny it isnt a bad idea. There is a disproportionate amount of elderly drivers that cannot park.

In addition DMZ's rear fender molding is something I did on my 2nd gen tl. although in black, same thickness etc.

I put it on as soon as i got my 2001 almost immediatly, over the years multiple people asked me what i did and copied it.

When looking at the 3rd G the rear bumper , although I have the same satin silver color the black molding wasnt doing it.

I bought all of these bumper guards, the heavy duty ones with the teeth and 3m backing, even color matched painted them. After seeing DMZ's i may just go for that molding or something a wider i saw in JC whitney

Better check your panel clearances and gaps just to be sure. Did the wheel or tire get hit ? Oh looking again it seems she must have just grazed you. I'm assuming she was parallel to you when she clipped you.

Find a body shop with lots of expensive cars around or ask your dealer to recommend someone who does high end bodywork. Lots of crappy shops that simply won't paint the whole panel, use mono type paint with color and clear all in one and don't care about their work. Perfect for the fools that don't even inspect the work afterwards. Insist that 2 or 3 part painting is done eg: base / pearl / clear.

Good luck
