Carbon Fiber steering wheel or Aspec steering wheel?
I need a little help deciding guys. For the longest I have been looking at the black carbon fiber steering wheel for my 2005 Acura tl to enhance the luxury look and feel of my car and had my mind dead set on one until only a couple days ago when I came across the aspec steering wheel through browsing the internet and now I am kind of stuck between one of the two. I have heard some rave reviews about the aspec steering such as it having higher quality leather than both the stock and carbon steering wheels and has more luxurious and high end feel which offers more grip when holding the wheel which does sound like a reasonable decision, but the only thing is I don't want my steering wheel to look out of place in my non aspec designs tl. I really do want to get the aspec, but I just hope it doesn't look too out of place and buying the entire aspec kit and getting it put onto the body of my car isn't quite an option for me at the moment being that money is tight. Tell me what you guys think. Do you think I should go aspec or carbon fiber? Does the aspec look too out of place on a non aspec molded tl? How about some price quotes for both of the steering wheels and how much it would cost to get them installed?
I love both. The A-Spec one will look just fine without having the kit, however, the CF wheel will tie in more with the rest of the interior. Personally I would go for the A-Spec because I love it that much. Not that the CF isn't rare to see, but I've seen more of those than A-Spec steering wheels.
Unless the Carbon Fiber wheel is from Acura, some of your functionality will not work on the car....you want functionality.
I have the Aspec Carbon Fiber wheel. It looks good....not great, but good.
If you can find one, go Aspec.
An aspec carbon fiber steering wheel with high quality leather and carbon fiber trimmings would be perfect. Can you let me know where I can find them and how much they will cost?
What about a rewrap? Me and a few others rewrapped our wheels at Dallas Custom steering wheel and he can do any color leather, any stitching, and make it much thicker. It's a night and day difference and I would do it again in a heartbeat
I was trying to make the same decision a few years ago. I feel it depends on the theme of your car.
If your setup more for speed than looks and you want a wheel that feels better and thicker than stock go for the A-Spec wheel. Personally I'm not too crazy about the grey leather there because I have an ebony interior, it would work if you have a grey interior. Points for looking unique though. Best thing is that the stitching definitely looks cool. It's a more noticeable upgrade.
But if your car is setup more for looks than speed or a more luxury look then the CF wheel is the way to go. Thickness is same as stock. The wheel matches the CF interior perfectly and just looks like it belongs there. It's a more subtle upgrade.
The choice for me was easy. I went for CF and no regrets, I love it. I also upgraded the console trim and the shift knob. I'm just missing the rear of the console. (Willing to buy one off someone if they are willing to sell )
Really, either wheel is a worthy upgrade and better than stock, you really can't go wrong.

^^ Agree here...I think a re-wrap in whatever color you want and make it as thick as you like is the best option (and probably the least expensive).
That's not an ASPEC steering wheel. It's the carbon fiber accessory steering wheel. There is only one ASPEC steering wheel as shown in post 7. At least, that's my understanding.

I think the above one looks awful- something I'd expect in a Civic. The stitching is nice, but the the silver inserts are definitely not for me. The Carbon Fibre one looks much more classy.
Edit: just saw the above post. I've never come across the A-Spec wheel, even though I bought my car with the entire A-Spec package. The previous owner paid for the CF one to be installed and never kept the A-Spec.

Carbon Fiber wheel is NON-Aspec but came in 4 spoke for 2004-2006 cars and 3 spoke for 2007-2008 TL's.
The Silver leather insert pic is for the TL-Aspec Package. The addition of the steering wheel usually means the car has the suspension, upgraded brakes (5AT), spoilers and badge.

We got a GS350 F sport in the family and the steering wheel feels so much nicer than on the TL. The TL steering wheel is too skinny and definitely not as soft.

i don't mind. but a warning, it's expensive at 400, but i don't regret it at all. i feel the difference every time i drive. he added the max thickness, it's high quality leather, and completely customizable
when i put the wrapped wheel next to a stock wheel, it was embarrassing how thin and puny the stock wheel is (i bought an ebay wheel and didn't lose any downtime, and then sold my extra wheel after putting on the wrapped one)

Wow that is quite the expensive mod, but you're right, it is one you can really appreciate everyday and every single time you drive it.
It is quite expensive, but I can tell by your other pictures that the company that did it doesn't look like they cut any corners. How's it holding up after almost a year and a half of use?

yea the cost will steer most people away understandably, it took me a long time to actually bite the bullet. what convinced me was when i drove my friend's s4 with their thick steering wheels, and when i went back to my car i was seriously embarrassed haha
the company is top notch. the wheel looks just as good as the day i got it and this is my daily driver. you can tell how good the materials are and that he knows what he's doing. some people go redline for about 250 i think, but i think the extra cost is well worth it.

For sure. The extra cost is usually worth it, especially when it comes to upholstery.
Thank you for letting me know what you paid. I'm just exploring different mods and I was thinking steering wheel cause it is a bit beat up from previous owner.
No real extra money to burn now. Just considering for future.
