06 Acura TL

i have always wanted the black roof look. so i was thinkin instead of painting it right away, do the Vinyl overlay n see the reaction i get and if i do like it i will paint it. but then i thought about that carbon fiber vinyl over lay they have..what do u guys think? ?

dude...if i had any color besides NBP i Would do black BUT the CF idea sounds pretty badass. CF would be more headturning but I say you stay with black since your car has the white/black theme going on

In my opinion, if you want to make it look good, get a real sheet of Carbon fiber overlaid on the roof, between the two black water-channel strips, that would look perfect.

As cool as it CF may look in an overlay... IN less than a year it would look like shit.

CF hoods, which have multiple layers of epoxy covering them, begin to discolor, crack and peel in a year...

No way a simple overlay will lst long at all.

Get it painted NBP. That's what I'm gonna do.

I think the TL is a very classy yet sporty car.. however I think once you start getting into the cosmetic stuff your talking about it WILL make the care look very RICER style, and I dont know about you but after spending anywhere from 25-39k for a TL used/new, the last thing I would want is to make my car look like it belongs in a TOO FAST TOO FURious movie with some punk kid behind the wheel.

On the other hand you do have some new mercedes/bmw's with real carbon fiber on the roof, I would only opt for that on a black car, as enthusists will notice yet at the same time your car wont look like, well like i stated above.

If you were to throw a couple clear coats over the real carbon fiber sheet I am pretty sure it won't get sun damaged...

06... if you need a guniea pig car... pm me I would definitely be interested in a cf roof with a cf sheet not the overlay...

I say you do a black roof if you don't really need the whole 'light weight' thing, just to save yourself some money, or ya do some cf vinyl overlay. Although IMO, the cf look is much more sexier.

I would paint the roof NBP. Talk to AccuraTein he had a CF hood but overtime it began to look like shit and he went back to stock. You could take a page out of his book and do NBP on the roof/hood/trunk. In a couple years assuming I get the 4th gen TL I will def go for the two tone look

Go with the black, i had a VIS CF hood on my integra, and after about a year or so, it started to fade!!

Guys 06 aint your regular tl'er, he has a body shop at his disposal, so he can throw some clear coats on it and have it superbly maintained... I say cf hood, sheet of cf on the roof, cf on the trunk if possible

I'm gona look into the CF sheet, like stillhere said, maybe 3-4 layers of dupont clear, and a decent sealer, and i will be good. i wanted the NBP roof but that just...everyone is doing it. i figure CF no one has ever done and now that the new M% is getting it, it will stand out. i deff will look into a CF Sheet.

Accuratein just took his TL CF hood off becasue it looked so bad after a year or so (made by VIS I believe, considered one of the best out there).

I have CF overlays on B-pillars, they're vinyl coated for protection. After they get wet, they look like shit until they're treated with protectant again. I don;t see how this will work out any different.

BTW, I've seen all of 2 black roofs on the forum. I sure dont think "everyone" is doing it, as paint is irreversible without expense, and if not done well, will greatly affect trade-in/ re-sale.

Some guy on the TSX side has a white TSX with either a CF or black roof and trunk - maybe even hood. So it has been done but I am not sure it is "head turning." I would take a glance but nothing more. I do like how the new M3 looks though...

I was gonna do the hood black but the shop qoute me for 500...then I was like huh? I don't know but there doesn't seem to be a lot of work that need for the roof...assuming that the sunroof is almost half the roof.

But the more I look at the M5 or the Mecedez Ben SL with the black out roof...damn I want to
