Car Wax. Any recommendations?
I just picked up my TL (Anthracite/Ebony/6MT/Navi) on Thursday and it is the first new car I have ever purchased. I have never really waxed any previous cars so I have no clue as to what I should used. Can anyone recommend a specific brand to use for a novice to get me started. I like the beautiful shine that i have seen for many of the cars posted on the website.
Thanks.
Thanks.

I know I am going to get flamed, but ....
A few years ago Consumer Reports testde waxes. And based on their results the one that was not necessarily the best, but lasted longest and gave a good shine, was Nu-Finish paste (I beleive it ranked third). Very inexpensive and easy to use. Its biggest down fall is you must let it fully dry before removing it our you get streaking. I also find it lasts many months, I usually wax 3 times a year, sometimes 4 and car is always beading water. And I wash it on average every other week. And I'm sure there have been soem improvements in wax technology over the years, but Nu-Finish has never let me down so I stick with it.
Seems to have a deep mirror finish in these photos and it was waxed a few weeks before these were taken.

Just checked out the Maguires site. I see that the NXT line looks pretty new.
Looks good for new cars. Older cars may need a cleaner wax.
Good luck !

Going to try to post some crappy pictures after I used the Meguiar's NXT. The dungeon is really dark and I need to charge my battery, but you should be able to see the shine.

NXT is good, BUT, it attracts dust like crazy if you live in a dusty area. Make sure you rub it all off or your car will dust up like nobody's business.

NXT, quick easy and smooooooth.
My California Duster glides over the paint surface now. (to get rid of the dust that the NXT and the Mr. Clean Carwash attracts)

Meguiars also has a real nice product for the tires - leaves 'em black and only makes them shiny if you do a couple coats. One coat makes them dark, black, rich color. It is called Endurance (I think it also comes in a high gloss version if that is what you are in to) - so be careful which version you get. I have used the regular Endurance for some time and have been very pleased. It is a gel like cream that you apply and then wipe off - so no over spray onto fenders etc.

i use the endurance tire gel as well. very nice finish on the wheel. i dun like the greasy look some of the gels give you. i like a cleaner satin finish which the Meguiars gives with just one coat. you can put on more coats if you like it looking wet. i personally just like it looking black. it'll last a couple of weeks but if it rains a couple of times its brown tires again. i have not tried one product that will stand up to the rain as far as tire dressing is concerned.
