Car wash nightmare

Car wash horror story!!! I went to one of those automatic car washes and experienced a nightmarish time... so I was sitting in my car waiting for the wash cycles to finish. Suddenly I felt my 05 TL shake, as if I was experiencing an earthquake. I thought what the sh*t. I looked in my side view mirror...and what do I see. The damn tire/wheel scrubber did not line up with my rear tires, and yeah, you guessed it, the damn brushes started too swirl against the rear quarter panels. I was ((((PISSED))))). I thought, major damage... So now the green sign says "EXIT". I exit the wash and braced myself to what I thought was going to be an awful sight. As I walked back, there it was, 2 big round swirl marks on the paint. My first thought was, I'm gonna call the owner and rip into him. But then I thought, what good is that gonna do when there is a big sign before you enter the wash, that owner is not responsible for any damages. Now, I'm driving home and praying to god that buffing the marks out would take care of the swirls and it did. The marks are gone now... Close call. The moral of this story is ( Beware of them lousy automatic car washes ).

The only brush that ever touches my car is the one that is connected to my hand. I have heard too many stories like yours and feel like those pull in jobs never do as good a job as I can. Glad to hear everything buffed out..

Toba, sorry to hear about your bad experience. I never use those things. But from time to time, I use the hand wand car wash/power sprayer-if I'm in a hurry. I know, guys will give me trouble for that too, but sometimes I use them because it's quick, simple, accomplishes what I need and it's only $1.00 to $1.50.

I only use the touch free automatic washes, when I need a quick washing. Otherwise I do it by hand.

I went to pull into a automatic carwash and I noticed the car in front of me was covered in mud and shit from offroading. I backed out and went on my way. You can never be sure what car went through before you and where it came from.

Hate to say it but serves you right .... regardless of the damage ... try looking at your car in the sun after a few of those washes .. it will be full of swirls .. eventually hiding the new ones.

If I don't wash it by hand, I only go to a touchless wash without the brushes or chamois/noodles. Those aren't great either but during the winter when I can't wash it during the work week, it isn't bad.

They aren't talking about the Touch-Free washes, they're talking about those washes when those huge brushes come and hit your car, Touch washes.

As opposed to washing it yourself, plus I think they recycle the water, so you never know if the water is really clean. I haven't had issues before though...loads better than 'touch' washes.

Interesting video.....and the automatic car wash in question was a pretty lame even by auto-car wash standards.

Yeah I've been lazy and used the touch free places a couple times too.. I won't be going back for a while since my last visit got me amped..

It looked like it didn't even clean the car.. There was still a layer of dirt all around the car.. the wheels looked untouched (even though they quoted a wheel underbody cleaning)..

and to make it worse I picked the wax sealant.. so I sealed in crap.. had to spend an hour going over it by hand..

There is a new car wash not too far from my neighborhood (bellerose queens)

It is DESIGNED for expense cars, and low cars... its all hand wash, and there are NO TRACKS at all... only a conveyor belt that pulls you through.... fantastic job.. but pricey

ranges from $17 - $49 ....

Its called Sonic Car Wash if anybody is interested... greatest thing i've ever seen
