Car panels/ airbag panels

Hey guys

First of all, let me say that I love the car. I was driving an X5 4.4i for the past couple of years and I can honestly say the TL engine throws up some serious competition.

Here is the one thing that is driving me crazy - Squeeking and rattling of inside panels. I have 1000 miles on the car, and it only seems to get worse. The airbag panels even more so squeek like hell and it make it feel like lousy build quality. I also have some dash panel seams off upwards of .75 inches off!- Ultimately I would like to know if others who drive in the city or a city have the same problem. What can I do? Should I hold the dealer responsbile to tighten things up?

Thanks for the help ahead of time!

Dave

What airbag panels do you refer to? The curtain airbag is in the headliner, the torso airbag is in the seatback, and the front airbags are in the steering wheel hub and passenger side dash. I have about the same mileage as your car with no squeeks or rattles. (Yet) If your dealer is "worth their salt", they should be able to silence the offending parts.

hmm

Drives me crazy...bringing it in on Tues

I have found something new as well...

When I first start the car and come onto it a little bit..say first gear...I hear a gring for a moment...feel the feedback...then its fine...but it happens when I first start driving usually...any idea?

I think the grinding noise you hear may be the ABS system energizing. Should be no problem, but ask your service advisor to make sure.
Cheers.

It is NOT the ABS system. I have already had mine in for this very noise and the techs hear it but are having a tough time determing the cause. I have 3 other Acuras with ABS and the sound of an 'energizing' system sounds completely different.

You may be right and that's why I suggested that the service folks diagnose the issue. Hard for me to empathise as my TL doesn't do it.

when i first got the car i had hardly any squeaks or rattles. but now(13K miles) the rattles are showing up more and more. i now have the infamous glove box rattle which is driving me insane. the passenger door has something in it that is making noise. i swear its trolls but who knows. i'm taking it in as soon as i make an appointment either this week or next. its kind of expected for a 1st year model and from a bigger picture not a big deal. i would be more concerned with mechanical and electrical problems. i drive mostly on the highway but in nyc the potholes are all over those roads as well. so its kind of inevitable almost for any car driving here to develop rattles.
