Car Cover

Is the stock car cover worth $200 or can anyone recommend a good aftermarket brand?

I can't speak for aftermarket covers, but the Acura fix extremely well and is well made with some material that allow it to breathe. It's light gray in color. I haven't used it outdoors, just in the garage to keep the dust off so far. I purchase it with a bundle deal amoung other things when I bought the car. I think it's worth it so far, haven't put to a good hard rain test though.

I went with a Covercraft DUSTOP car cover. It's supposed to be the best indoor car cover and it also helps prevent dings. I have lot's of bikes and toys for the kids so in my garage the "ding" part is definitly needed. It was $70 cheaper than the OEM.
I'll let you guys know how good it is.

Has anyone purchased a car cover from the local parts store in your area? I'm asking because I found out today that I will require one this weekend and don't want to spend $200 on a car cover. Any help would be appreciated.

I just can't justify $200 for something I plan to use once or twice a year. I just want to make sure the after market covers will not scratch my car.

I've used California Car Covers for years...they make the best IMHO.

One thing about using a cover...don't use it on a car unless it's clean. Putting a cover on a dirty car outside is inviting trouble. The cloth material will grind any dirt or dust into the paint, creating swirl marks. I only use my cover when the car is clean, and even inside the garage if it's going to sit for more than a few days. The CalCarCover is probably the lightest weight cover on the market, and folds up very small, while still protecting the car against dirt and UVA sunlight if used outdoors. It's a much higher quality material than the Acura cover.

California Car Cover in my opinion as well seems to be the BEST but damn way to expensive. I received a quote for a weathershield yadi yadi yadi cover custom fit and all for 300 beans.

I have a friend that ended up getting a California Cover and I decided to go with a COVERCRAFT cover and on the real they are both great. Breathable, I even got the hose and sprayed it directly to see if water would penetrate and nothing.

Conclusion to each its own but for what he got his CALIFORNIA COVER at about 300+ I got mine for 220 free shipping and bag and tie down lock & cable.

Hope this helps...

If anyone is interested in a California Car Cover, I've got one for sale that fits a second generation TL listed on the Black Market forum. I liked it so much, I bought a new cover for my '04 TL, and I'm selling the old cover. I'm not sure how it would fit a '04 TL since I've never tried using it on the new car. It's a very expensive cover that I can't use anymore so if anyone knows someone with a second gen TL, please have them check it out...I'm selling it cheap just to get rid of it.
