Car cover

Anyone here has a car cover for their TL? How is the Acura brand compared to other brands?

the acura branded ones are going to be the same as the other ones. acura doesn't make the accessories someone else is contracted to make them. if you find a good deal for a quality non-acura cover it will be just as good if not better. you just might not get the "A" on the cover.

I`ve got the acura cover and its great. Along with fit, it has a heat protective panel in the lower bottom to protect the cover from burns from the exaust.

I use the cover every day at work and especially with the crap thats coming off the trees this time of year.

Best of all, I got the dealer to throw it in free!

Whats the deal with scratching when using a car cover? I feel like the covers would agitate the dirt and cause a ton of scratches.

Well you don't want to put a cover over a car loaded with dirt or debris. However, if your car is fairly clean, it will protect the paint from sun, bird droppings, etc., without scratching the paint.

As to the quality of aftermarket brands vs. Acura, I would suspect other than fit, you can get an equal one for less money. Then again, you might be able to talk your salesman into throwing one in to seal the deal.

No problem with scratching. As long as it fits correctly and has a stretch band to keep it from letting wind move it around.
But on the other hand, I`ve got the WDP, and no scratches can be visible anyways.

The Acura cover for the TL should be the best fit right? I'm worried about the cover scratching the car.

The cover won't scratch the car ....... unless you make the mistake of letting the outside touch the inside. When you take it off, take the front lip to the center and the same for the rear. Then the inside never touches the outside.

I want to get a cover like the one in that commercial where the guy has it look like a bombed out Chevy Citation. Unfortunately for the guy in the commercial, the car under it is just as crappy.

I use a California Car cover with the superweave material. IMHO it's the best cover on the market, and I've used them on 2 previous cars with no scratches. It's very expensive, but can be washed at home and is a very thin material that's very water resistant and really protects the car from dust and other debris. I use it indoors mostly but sometimes outside when I don't have access to a garage. BTW, I have a cover for sale to fit a second generation TL. If anyone would like to buy it, I'll sell it cheap. It's a silver grey color, and is the California Car Cover superweave material.

I've never used the Acura cover, but I did look at one at the dealer showroom. I personally like the material of the California Car Cover much better, and it's home washable which saves a lot of money when it comes time to clean the cover.
