Cannot read KM

My apology if this question is a repeat. I did some search but couldn't find much info.

We'll be taking a road trip to Canada in few weeks. I've just noticed the "KM" part is very difficult to read. Already adjusted the brightness to maximum but still difficult to see. Is this the way 3G TL suppose to be?

I have this TL since 2006. Never noticed this issue 'til now. Will be the first time driving it outside of US.

It is kilometers, I also have an 06 but can't read the mph on mine. I have yet to find a solution. It is only really an issue during the day, but I usually just do the conversion in my head or follow traffic flow when in the states.

Radar detectors are illegal in Canada so hide it. They also use radar detector detectors.

Not in all of Canada, they are legal in the three most western provinces.

Not Legal in the following: Newfoundland & Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, the Yukon Territory, the Northwest Territories

Legal in the following: Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan

I'd start reading the numbers before you go and start memorizing them. Like MEKO said, 60 MPH is 100 KPH. 30 MPH is about ~ 50 KPH.

Good luck and be safe.

60miles is 100 km, or just follow the flow of traffic and you'll be fine

I've had my TL for a couple of years now, and its an American car. You get used to the speedometer very quickly.
+ I don't find it hard to read at all.

Well my brother got pull over some where on Windsor/Ontario border line doing 100 mph, the cop gently ask if we know how fast we were going. I told him sure we did speed limit 100. He then later explain its in KMH nor MPH, well we know this since back in Vietnam they use all metric unit :tomaoto:. We just playing dumb lol, get away with no ticket or written warning, I guess the cop was cool.

i wouldn't be so sure of that, you probs won't get a ticket or your radar seized but they'll give you a warning for sure and if you're caught the next time than they'll ticket you and maybe even seize your radar. I know when you're entering Manitoba from Saskatchewan , there are signs saying its illegal in the province.

Do not plug in the radar detector at all if you are visiting Ontario. They will impound your car, confiscate the radar detector and hefty tickets....

Funny thing we do have Passport escort 8500 back in 2006 mounted on the windshield middle on the dash and plug in, as soon as the alarm when off and we look to see what it was, it read "Laser" and we go like F*** us since the cop already got the speed he needed to write ticket. The cop didn't bother say anything about the detector and told us not to speeding again, we taking off toward the border and heading back into the US. Overall I find Canadian is very nice and friendly even driving on the high way they usually pull over and let you pass but once we got back to Buffalo NY, we drove like a dick since almost everyone doing 60-65 mph on the express lane and refuse to pull into the slow lane.

Your brother is one lucky SOB.

100mph = 160km/h
Limit is 100km/h

More than 50km/h over can mean license suspension, and road side vehicle seizure!

Mine is the same way ... but reverse .. I can't read the MPH ...

Conversion for you guys is easy ... take the KM and drop the "0" or the last "0" and multiply by 6 .. This gives you a safe rounded conversion. Hard conversion is in red

90 KMH is 9 x 6 = 54 MPH 55.923

100 KMH is 10 x 6 = 60 MPH 62.137

50 KMH is 5 x 6 = 30 MPH 31.07
