I personally leave mine off, it's a hassle and my previous cars never had it neither.

Anyone have a clear picture of theirs mounted in place? I don't think my car has one. At least there wasn't anything I had to remove to get to the filter or drain plug.

You change your oil what, twice a year? It's not that big of deal. The alignment shop totally screwed me when they forgot to put any of the pins back in the plastic under body cladding. Now the car is noticeably louder going down the freeway. Wind noise is a lot louder especially in the cowl area.

I'm not understanding why you need to remove the splash shield to change the oil on a 3G TL. You can simply bend it a little to gain access to the oil filter and there's no shield in the way for actual draining the oil.

For an ATF change you have a valid point, but how often do those happen? It's a far greater hassle changing the cabin air filter than taking off the splash shield.

I don't need to remove a shield either to change my oil. I bought my car new.

Same here. When I replied I was imagining doing the trans and even then I undo the front part and lay it down, I never take it all the way off.
